Marjorie Lynn Pierce of Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, took her last breath in the late afternoon on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, while her daughter, Jackie Nell, held her hand and stroked her hair.

In the last few years of her life, she faced many challenges due to dementia and strokes. She always faced these hurdles with positivity and persistence, even when they took away the things that she loved most: travel, cooking, and sewing.

When Marjorie loved, she loved deeply. She was lucky to gain an instant family when she married James Pierce, Sr. 55 years ago. She loved and raised his four kids as her own. Jim was the love of her life. Two weeks after he passed away in May, her heart began to fail. Even when the mind forgets, the soul remembers.

Throughout her lifetime, Marjorie worked in many environments and capacities but spent the longest time as a Department Manager over her favorite area: Fabrics and Crafts, where she helped so many people with their projects. At home, she could usually be found in her sewing room. She made beautiful dolls, quilts, and clothing. Marjorie had an adventurous spirit. She and Jim traveled the country together. They loved camping and would often start a trip by flipping a coin to go west or east.

Family was so important to her and Marjorie would drop everything to aid a family member in need. She always made sure every child, and grandchild had a present under the tree and a favorite food on the table at holiday time.

In addition to her husband, Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents, GW "Jack" and Mary Francis, her sister Jacqueline, her daughter by marriage, Shelly LaCoste; and three of her grandchildren. She is survived by her daughter, Jackie; her children through marriage, James Jr., Barbara, and Chris; her siblings, Richard, Fran, and Toni; and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Marjorie lived most of her 77 years in Louisiana. Her cremains will be interred next to her husband's at Morgan City Cemetery. No funeral services will be held.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations in her name be made to Alzheimer's Association.
