Marjorie Arlene Wallace was born December 21, 1931 in Marshalltown, Iowa. She was the fifth of nine children born to Edgar and Ellen (Johnson) Wallace. Marjorie grew up in Marshalltown and attended school within the Marshalltown school system. She would later graduate with the 1952 class of Marshalltown High School.
On August 28, 1954, Marjorie was united in marriage to the love of her life, Leonard Raum. They made their home together and raised four children, Roger, Melvin, Robin and Leanna. In the early years of their children's lives, Marjorie stayed home in order to care for her children and family's needs. She would as they aged begin working for the Iowa Veteran's Home in their food service department. She made a career out of caring for the Veterans and being part of their lives until she retired after 14 years of service. In 2018, Leonard passed away after 64 years of marriage.
In her free time, Marjorie loved crafting. She particularly took interests in needle work doing many cross stitch and crocheting projects over the years. She was an avid Chicago Cubs fan and tried to get the whole family cheering, "Go Cubs Go!" She made it a point to make sure that she caught her game shows as often as she could and had a knack for collecting anything Amish. From her family they will remember fondly all the times that she would make her famous fudge around the holiday season and are thankful she was able to show them how she made the delicious treat.
Those left to remember and cherish her memory are her daughter-in-law Marian Raum of Conrad, IA along with her children, Melvin (Sondra) Raum of Conrad, IA, Robin (Kim) Proescholdt of Marshalltown, IA and Leanna (Don Schellhorn) Stamp of Oelwein, IA; her grandchildren, Allison (Eric) Raum, Carl (Melissa) Raum, Garrett (Abbie) Raum, Jenny Proescholdt, Toni Proescholdt, Randi Proescholdt, Jake (Mandy) Stamp, Lisa Stamp and Josh (Kayleigh) Stamp; eight great-grandchildren; her siblings, Gertrude Malmquest and Helen Landis; sister-in-law, Norma Wallace; and numerous nieces, nephews and other loved extended family members.
She was preceded in death by her husband Leonard Raum; her son, Roger Raum; her parents Edgar and Ellen Wallace; six siblings; and a great-grandson, Knox Stamp in infancy.
