Marjorie Riley, age 85, passed away peacefully on October 14, 2025 in Streetman, Texas. Margie was born January 22, 1940 in Corsicana, Texas to the late Connie D. and Jessie Laverne Gilliam.
Margie graduated from Corsicana High School in 1957. On November 1, 1957 she married Joe Miller Tidwell and in 1963 they had their first new home built and relocated to Mesquite. Margie was a homemaker and mother to three daughters, Kimberli, Carolyn, and Gwendolyn. Later becoming a loving "Grammy" to Steven, Stephanie and Kinsley Sanders, Jaime Decker, and Alexis Jones but "Granny" to Travis Decker. Margie was a skilled pianist and played for many years in church. She went to beauty school and became a hairdresser in Mesquite with a group of wonderful ladies that always knew the latest gossip around town.
In her early 40's she attended El Centro Nursing School in Dallas, graduating with her LVN license. Following graduation, she worked at LakePointe Hospital in Rowlett, TX. In 1996 she left the hospital to care for her husband Joe until his death on April 13, 2001, and years later her mother. She always was a caregiver and that was reflected in her career choice and the love she showed while caring for others.
Margie was an active member of Sunnyvale Baptist Church in Sunnyvale, TX. While attending church, she met Alfred Riley, and they were married November 21, 2009.
Margie enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Playing games, going to a good garage sale or estate sale were always fun to her. She loved to travel and took several trips, but her favorites were the Alaskan Cruise and the trip to the Holy Land. She also enjoyed attending the Singing Men of Texas and the Texas Country Boys Concerts, as they always made her feel special.
Margie was proceeded in death by her parents Connie D. and Jessie Laverne Gilliam, husband Joe Tidwell of 43 years, husband Alfred Riley of 8 years, brother James Gilliam and son in law Jerry Worsham.
Her greatest joy was her family. She is survived by her daughters Carolyn Worsham of Corsicana, Gwen Glass and husband Mike of Streetman, and Kimberli Currin and husband Doug of Phalba.
Grandchildren, Travis Decker and wife Jaime of Alba, Steven Sanders and wife Stephanie of Ennis, Jennifer Babbit and husband Greg of Palmer, Justin Currin of Ennis, and Nathan Currin of Tyler.
Great Granddaughters Kinsley Rose Sanders of Ennis, who she always called "The Baby" and Alexis Jones of Point.
Sisters Aleene Pollock of Corsicana, Verna McDonald of Arlington, and Audra Ground of Waco. Margie also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.
Carolyn and Gwen would like to thank the Bristol Hospice workers for their compassionate care which provided comfort and dignity to their mother in her final days.
