Marjorie Pasley Stover Schierbaum departed this life to be with her Lord on January 7, 2023 at the age of 89. She was born March 14, 1933 in rural Mount Vernon, Illinois to Russell Arleigh and Eula Margaret (Hertenstein) Pasley.
Marjorie first married James Stover on October 31, 1954. They had two children, Denise and Brent. She later married Ben Shierbaum on January 1, 1989. Ben preceded her in death on January 5, 2016.
Marjorie worked for Illinois Public Aid for six years and Employment Security for twenty years.
She grew up in Marlow Methodist Church and was a member from 1945 until 1988, where she taught Sunday school for much of that time. In December 1988, she joined the Community of Christ Church, where she served along with her husband Ben, who was the pastor for eight years.
Marjorie had a strong faith and loved her family dearly. She enjoyed her flowers and sending greeting cards to her family and friends on special occasions. Marjorie enjoyed life to the fullest.
She leaves two children, Denise Davis and husband, Robert and Brent Stover and wife, Cindy, all of Opdyke, Illinois; stepsons, Jerry Shierbaum and wife, Shirley of Bluford, Ronald D. Shierbaum and wife, Barb of Bluford, and Glenn L. Shierbaum and wife, Jena of Opdyke; stepdaughter, Sharon McCormick and husband, Les; grandson, Tyler Davis; and step grandchildren, Dustin Shierbaum, Jamie Clarke, Renee Wiggins, Loretta Popplewell, Jodi Shierbaum, Wade McCormick, Jason Taylor, Travis Taylor, Johnie Jenkins, Christi Power, Jennifer Kurwicki, Amber Eaton, Wesley Schumm, Sean Sweetin, Serena Wright, Shannon Sweetin, Brittany Brumley, and Brianna Meadows.
In addition to her parents and husband, Marjorie was preceded in death by her grandson, Ethan Stover.
A Visitation will be held Saturday, January 21, 2023 from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at Hughey Funeral Home in Mount Vernon. A Funeral Service will begin at 12:00 pm with Reverend Bud Storey and Elder Kevin Pierce officiating. Interment will follow at Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens in Woodlawn, Illinois. Memorials can be given in memory of Marjorie to SSM Hospice or Community of Christ Church of Mt. Vernon.
