Marjorie Williams, who left this world peacefully to be home with the Lord on January 8, 2025, at the age of 81. Born on December 17, 1943, in Vicksburg, Mississippi, Marjorie was a vibrant spirit who devoted her life to her faith, family, and the gift of music. She spent her final years in Canton, Ohio, a community she cherished and served with dedication.
Marjorie proudly graduated from McKinley High School in 1961 before earning her Bachelor's Degree from Kent State University. She built her career as a Service Representative with the City of Canton, where she retired after many years earning the respect of her colleagues and the community alike.
A true lover of music, Marjorie was an active participant in her own music groups, most notably the Gospel Trinities, with whom she traveled and performed. Her extraordinary talent shined through as she sang and played the keyboard and piano in numerous churches, touching the hearts of many. Her passion for music extended to teaching, and she even hosted her own show on WJAN Gospel TV, where she inspired others with her boundless enthusiasm.
Marjorie was a proud member of People's Baptist Church, where she dedicated her life to the Lord and used her musical gifts to uplift others. She will be remembered for her warm spirit, infectious laughter, and deep faith, which served as a guiding light to all who knew her.
Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Sr. and Lula Williams; and niece, Trena Curtis.
She leaves to cherish her memory her siblings, Joseph Jr. (Queen) Williams, Samuel L.(Mamie) Williams, Sandra Pryor, Gloria Williams, Esther Burge, David E. (Joyce) Williams; special nephew and honorary son, Franklin (Regina) Williams of Tallahassee, FL; along with countless friends and family that will carry on her legacy of love and devotion.
A celebration of Marjorie's life will be held on Saturday, January 18, 2025, at 11AM at Peoples Baptist Church, 701 17th St SE, Canton, OH 44707. Family and friends will gather 1 hour prior from 10AM to 11AM. All are invited to come together to reminisce, sing, and reflect on the beautiful life Marjorie lived.
