Wow, I was so saddened tonight to find out about Mark's passing. I got to know Mark by waiting on him at Pizza Hut and what a great guy he was. I always looked forward to him coming in with his family. I moved over a year ago so it had been a long time since I had seen him but he was always in my thoughts. I will truly miss his big smile and teddy bear mannor! Rest in Peace Mark!!

Phyllis, Sara and the Amroian family:
Phyl--I don't even know where to begin to tell you just how special you and Mark were in my life, you both made a lasting impression.
Never in my life have I met a person with a bigger heart than Mark had. He was an AWESOME husband, father, brother, friend and most of all an AWESOME Uncle. So many lessons were learned..... Jared treasured his Uncle Mark so much. I will do my best to make his Uncle Mark proud.
I will never forget the look on Mark's face when he held Jared for the first time at the hospital. He called him "Little Eddie", he then proceeded to look over at me with that look and tell me that if Jared was anything like his dad, I was in big trouble.
I'm sure when we go through those wonderful teenage years, Mark will be looking down smiling (or should I say smerking) with that "I told you so" look.
Sara honey, be proud of your Daddy........ keep all his memories close and strong in your heart.....not only for yourself baby girl, but so you can share them with Jared as he gets older. I don't want him to forget a thing.
Please know that we love you all very much.
Mark will be so greatly missed!!

Dearest Phyllis, Sara (& Family): We've known each other for many years now, stemming from the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Traverse City. The weekly pool league was our meeting place to share life, our daughters and occaisionally "sorrow". While Mark, Greg and the rest of the guys enjoyed playing pool, we shared time and built memories. Your 21 years together has been an inspiration to Greg and I, especially since we knew you through our dating, wedding ring designing, marriage and beyond. Mark's insight and stubborn drive has blessed us in many ways. He is the only person I know, who could make me hop on the back of his Harley in 90 degree heat, with complications from M.S. at the annual Eagles picnic. As sick and frail as I was at the time, he somehow convinced me to go for a "little spin". The more I said "no", the more he pushed for me to "live" a little. That was a ride that I've cherished ever since. That "little spin" was around 45 minutes. It was encouraging and was most memorable during my sickness. It's sad now, that we can't go to Oleson's for our "dose" of Mark. We'll have to rely on his inspiration through our memories... and know that he is riding that Hog in the sky with poolstick (or video joystick) in hand. Our sincerest and most heartfelt sympathy goes out to you. He was a GREAT man and will be sadly missed.

Dear Phyllis (Rose)and Sara, we will miss your Mark. He always had a smile and a ready conversation for Larry and I, either in or out of Olsen's. It has been our pleasure getting to know Mark over the years and enjoying his company at his place of work, and ours. It sadden us deeply to hear of his passing and leaving you and Sara, and I am sure that he would have like to stay too, but those special ones that leave us are still beside us and in our hearts. He always spoke so lovingly of you both and worn his button proudly, that alone spoke so much about his character and love for his family. His uniqueness was what drew you to him and he will be missed by us for a long time.
Sincerely,
Peter and Jean Nyblad

Mark's family & friends,
Mark stood out in many ways with his heart being as big as his bike. He would always say Hi. Mark went out of his way to help people that he came in contact with, if he wasn't helping customers he was helping fellow employees. Bless you all and thank God he blessed us with Mark.

Mark, what can i say man. You were a good friend to me sometimes more like a big brother. Handing down your Vests to me because you got too small for them. The games of pool we played. The stories of the ride you been on. I wish we could have rode our Harley's together. But I know when I put on that blue jean vest i always know you'll be right there riding along side of me. Love ya Brother. I'll See Ya Later. F.B.I.

For Mark's Family:
Mark was the friendly face at Oleson's, the guy who always laughed about my "one bag" approach to grocery shopping and almost always made everything fit in that one bag. I'll miss seeing him there. You must feel a great loss.

I knew right then and there that is guy is special that he will have a everlasting effect on me.Mark will be greatly missed he sure could bring a smile to your face. He always told me how much he loved his wife a daughter. And he would do anything he could for the ladies at work. His ladies. Miss you Big Mark . I see you again some day

Medium Mark, (as Randy & I would call you) you will be missed very much. Although I never had the privelege of working with you, you would always make a point of saying hi to me before I left Olesons for the day when you were working that night or if you were shopping during the day. The quality I remember most about you is your unbelievable spirit! Even before you were able to play, you were at every one of the Olesons softball games cheering everybody on and heckling the other team. Even after we lost, you would say, "we'll get 'um again next year!" I was so proud of you when you decided to start playing in the games. You were one of the best players on the team and the most dedicated. It was an honor to run the bases for you! The game won't be the same without you. The store won't be the same without you. Philys & Sara, you have suffered a tremendous loss. I hope you will take comfort in knowing that everyone at Olesons will be here if you need us.

Mark was such a great guy...all of us that knew him from Oleson's will miss his kindness, friendship and sense of humor...I'm sure I speak for many regular customers...Mark was a complete individual in a world filled with cookie cutter people, and we are all a little richer for having known him...Sincerely, Rosie Flickinger

I only knew Mark for a short time, while playing pool at Snookers, but he always showed nothing but kindness and respect for all he met. I remember talking to him about WWE Wrestling and pool. The world has lost a kind and generous husband, father and friend. My sincerest sympathies go out to the family and his wife Phyllis. Mark was a good friend and I will miss him.

Mark("Big Daddy") will be missed by many. When i first met Markie, i was scared to death of him. At the time he was big and burly and I didnt know what to think of him at first. He came across very gruff and ornery towards me. But i found he was a big teddy bear with a good heart. He was a good person and made alot of friends while working at the store. It will be a loss to the store. We will meet again Markie and what a great day that will be! I cant wait to see you again. Keep riding on...!! I love ya!

Mark, you have no idea how much you meant to all of us, nor did you know just how much we love you. You are an amazing man. Your smile brought a smile to everyone else's face. When I think of Oleson's, I'd always think of dad and you. You did so much for that store. Everything was appreciated. Your family become a part of our Oleson family. You and your family are amazingly sweet. When Jordan had told me you'd died, I lost it. I just let the tears flow. I want you to know that Tuesday nights will NEVER be the same. Oh my goodness, and the softball games. Mark, I know I've never played before, but from now on, I'll play every year in memory of you. I can promise you that. You made me so proud during those games. I knew you were sick and I knew this would happen sooner or later, but it came too soon. You weren't old enough to die, not even close! You made me smile every time I saw you. Especially some of those silly memories I have of you. They play through my head like a video. The one that sticks out the most is when I asked you if you were happy, you gave me two thumbs up and a huge smile, I'm gonna miss that terribly. You really did. As Jon says, keep riding your bike, okay? I still can't believe you're gone forever. I can't. Deb made canisters for donation money at the store, and in the first five hours we made $315. It made me so happy. Please remember all of us who truly cared about you. Cause you'll never be forgotten, and you'll always be in our hearts. I love you Big Mark!
