Obituary
Mark Eric Anton, age 54, of Santa Rosa Beach, Florida, passed away July 21, 2023. He was born on August 12, 1968, in Portsmouth, Virginia.
Mark was a talented and awarded chef and co-owner of Borago Restaurant, where he used his passion for food to bring joy to people. Growing up in a military family, Mark traveled the world, developing a deep appreciation for the unique flavors of different cultures. He also had immense culinary influences from Lansdowne, Virginia, Tortola BVI, Charleston, South Carolina, and Birmingham, Alabama, where he lived for many years. Mark had a special love for the arts and supported many local artisans and craftsmen. In his spare time, Mark was a classic car and truck enthusiast, enjoyed music, and could often be found at the local farmer's market or reading the latest cookbook. He was also known for his infinite love for people and his continual travel and exploration to perfect his craft.
Mark will be deeply missed by his family and all who knew and loved him. He is survived by his loving fiancé, Maria Cornejo, and her daughters, Karina and Nathalia, of Santa Rosa Beach, Florida; father, Mark Anton and his wife, Beth, of Ashburn, Virginia; mother, Tina Harrison and her husband, Marshall, of Ladson, South Carolina; brother, Christopher Anton and his wife, Kimberly, of Goose Creek, South Carolina; step-sisters, Stephanie Buckley and her husband, Craig, of Purcellville, Virginia, and Nicole Deacon and her husband, Thomas, of Ashburn, Virginia; nephew, Christian Anton of Goose Creek, South Carolina; step-nephews, Wyatt Buckley, Logan Buckley and Brett Buckley, all of Purcellville, Virginia; and business partner, Michael Dragon of Santa Rosa Beach, Florida. He is also survived by a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and a multitude of friends.
Eric will be laid to rest in a private ceremony at Gulf Cemetery, Santa Rosa Beach, Florida. There will be a celebration of his life at 3:00 p.m., on Saturday, August 12, 2023 at Monet Monet, 100 E. County Highway 30A, Santa Rosa Beach, Florida 32459, with a reception to follow.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to E.O. Wilson Biophilia Center, Lucky Puppy Rescue or the American Diabetes Association, in Mark Eric Anton's memory.
