Mark D. Autrey of Winnfield, Louisiana passed from this life into eternal rest on Wednesday, December 11, 2024 at the Winn Parish Medical Center at the age of 62.
Mark was born on August 23, 1962 at Ft. Polk in Leesville, Louisiana to Larry Allen Autrey and Iris Marie Snelling Autrey.
Mark grew up in Fayetteville, North Carolina and, as the son of a soldier in the U.S. Army, travelled to Nuremberg, Germany before finally settling in Winnfield upon his father's retirement.
Mark was known for his general love of life and his gregarious manner. He was liked by most everyone he met and had a unique wit about him. He loved music and was a football fan, particularly the LSU Tigers and the New Orleans Saints. Mark served our nation is the U.S. Army and gained a BA degree in accounting from Northwestern State University. He worked many jobs in his lifetime, from a cook on offshore drilling rigs and as a mill hand for Winn Lumber and West Fraser.
Mark was preceded in death by his parents, Larry Allen Autrey and Iris Marie Snelling both of Winnfield.
Those left to cherish his memory are his son, Matthew Dylan Autrey, brother, Anthony Allen Autrey, sister Jan Autrey Brown (Daryl) and a number of nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held at Southern Funeral Home of Winnfield on Friday, December 13, 2024 from 5 - 7 PM. Funeral services will be held at the Southern Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Tommy Sanson officiating. Interment will be at Pine Ridge Cemetery in northwest Winn Parish.
Honoring Mark's memory by serving as pallbearers are: David Key, Jeffrey Gwyn, Darren White, Chis Keys, B. W. Stewart and Billy Finn.
