Mark Elliott Baker was born to Johnny and Margaret Baker on March 8, 1982. Mark's faith was a cornerstone of his life. He gave his life to Christ at an early age, and his relationship with God shaped his values, decisions, and the way he interacted with those around him.
After beginning his degree in business at Prairie View A&M University and completing it at Huston-Tillotson University, Mark spent his life shaping young minds both in the classroom and on the track and football field. As a passionate teacher and coach, he guided many athletes in football and track, teaching them not only the skills of the sport but also the values of perseverance, teamwork, and integrity.
Beyond athletics, Mark had a profound impact as the advisor of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA). Through his tireless efforts, he brought students closer to God, inspiring them to live with purpose and faith. His legacy of love and devotion to Christ will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
An avid sports fan, Mark was a loyal supporter of the Dallas Cowboys and the Texas Longhorns. His passion for these teams was a big part of his personality and a source of joy for those who shared in his love of the game.
Mark was proceeded in death by grandmothers; Janie "Mother" Wormley and Ada Baker, grandfathers; Augie Baker Sr and Eugene Richardson, aunts; Helon Bryant and Bernice Baker, uncles; Augie Baker Jr., Henry Baker, Byrdell Baker, Willie Baker, Wayne Baker Sr, John Baker, Lawrence Baker, Eugene "Junebug" Richardson and Jim Baker, sister; Bridget Baker, daughter; Sydney Baker and nephew DeAndre Lewis.
Mark is survived by his wife, Sasha and daughters Riley and Zoey, parents; Johnny and Margaret Baker, brother; Eddie Burns (Tonya), sisters; Sonya Richardson, Rhonda Fitzpatrick (Lenny), Simona Baker, and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and friends.
Mark was a devoted husband, father, son, brother, cousin, friend, teacher, coach and mentor who touched countless lives through his unwavering dedication and faith. His love for life and the people in it will forever remain in the hearts of those who were fortunate to know him.
