Mark A. Burger, age 43 of Corning, NY died on Wednesday, November 6, 2024. Born on May 8, 1981 in Corning, NY, he was the son of Harry Burger and the late Dawn (Wead) Burger.
Mark was a graduate of Corning East High School. He married Nicole Ilnicki on September 19, 2009. He worked as an operator for Wenzel Landscaping out of Elmira Heights. Prior to that he was a heavy tow operator and mechanic at T&R towing for near 10 years.
Mark will always be remembered for having the best laugh, huge heart, always the first person to rush to help anyone who needed it. He was a life long member at the Corning Beagle Club and Crystal Valley Saddle Club. He enjoyed hunting, 4-Wheeling, snowmobiling, mudding, rodeo and riding his motorcycle. If it was crazy, fast and dangerous he was doing it. He was very well known and loved by so many. Our community, our family, lost a very good man. A husband, a father and a son. A brother to his close friends and a beloved member of the horse and rodeo community.
He wasn't an easy man. But then this life isn't an easy place to be. If I had to describe Mark, I would say he rode life like he rode horses and bulls. The ranker the ride, the harder he dug those spurs. Him against a beast.
He was irreverent, unapologetic, funny and covered a huge heart with titanium. If you were blessed to see that smile you knew you found yourself in the presence of someone rare and authentic.
Mark is survived by his wife, Nicole Burger of Corning, NY; father, Harry Burger of Corning NY; daughter, Shelby Cornish (Kyle Curran) Corning NY; step-son, Steven Ilnicki of Erin NY; sister-in-law, Tina McIntyre (Rich McIntyre) Corning NY; many aunts, uncles and cousins; special friends: Shawn Harndon, the entire Smith/Giles family, the Tempest family and a list of friends too long to name.
In addition to his mother, Mark was predeceased by his brother, Michael Burger.
A private graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, November 30, 2024 at 2:00 pm at The Pines, 3537 Pine Hill Rd., Corning, NY. Carpenter's Funeral Home, 14 E. Pulteney St., Corning has been entrusted with Mark's care.
