Mark Darah Obituary

Mark Alan Darah

Mark Alan Darah, 67, a lifelong resident of Toledo, passed away April 28, 2022, at Flower Hospital. He was born July 9, 1954, to the late Emil and Vivian (Skaff) Darah. Mark graduated from Bowsher High School in 1972 and The Ohio State University in 1976.

Mark retired in 2019 from Merrill Lynch as a financial advisor after 38 years. Many colleagues considered him a role model, and during his tenure he was instrumental in building the client-centered culture in the Toledo Merrill Lynch office. He valued every client equally, and his clients became his friends.

While he was well-respected professionally, his greatest source of pride was his wife and daughters. The best "girl dad" in the world, Mark delighted in the day-to-day happenings of his girls. He loved hearing about even the most mundane details of their lives and having open and meaningful conversations to give them advice and assurance.

A man of stellar character, Mark appreciated the simple things in life: a good book, working in his yard, playing backgammon, walks in the neighborhood and watching his beloved Buckeyes. He has been described as wise, kind, steady, selfless and courageous.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 33 years, Dolli; daughters, Adrienne, Victoria (John Baucco) and Kristen; brothers, Scott (Linda) and Gregg Darah; numerous nieces, nephews; aunts and cousins. Mark was also preceded in death by his sister, Jacalyn Darah.

Family and friends are invited to visit from 12:00-6:00 p.m., Sunday, May 1, 2022, at Walker Funeral Home, 5155 Sylvania Ave. (west of Corey Road). Funeral services will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions in Mark's name be made to ProMedica Hickman Cancer Center, c/o ProMedica Foundation, 444 N. Summit St., Suite 100, Toledo, OH 43604 (www.giving.promedica.org/flower) or to the charity of the donor's choice.

Dolli and family,
My deepest condolences on your loss. Having worked with Mark for many years, I got to know him as a man of integrity and class. When God gave out integrity, honesty, and goodness, he skipped a lot of people and bestowed their share to Mark. I hope your many wonderful memories will help heal the pain you are experiencing.

Although I haven't seen any of you in years, I remember the days when we all would watch the Kentucky Derby at your home with your mom and dad. That was along time ago and you guys were still in school.
Sorry for your losses in your family, missed both when your mom and dad passed. Where did the time go and it seems like it just flew by.
