Mark J. DeChellis, Jr. age 90 of North Canton, passed away peacefully on Easter Sunday with his loving wife, Debbie, by his side. He was born in Coraopolis, Pennsylvania on July 9, 1934 to the late Mark, Sr. and Virginia (LaRocca) DeChellis. He graduated from Timken Vocational High School, from where he later received an Outstanding Achievement Award. Mark attended Akron University, and after retired in 1999 from First Merit Bank as Chief Compliance Officer.
Mark was very involved with the community. He was a member of the Unique Club, VFW – North Canton, Knights of Columbus, North Canton Eagles and Elks. For 50 years, Mark was active with the North Canton Rotary Club, the North Canton Chamber of Commerce for 45 years, and First Tee for 13 years. He also participated in Project Rebuild and Habitat for Humanity.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by brother Clarence DeChellis and sister Louise Chiappini. Mark is survived by wife Debbie (Rupert) DeChellis; son-in-law Edward (Ashley) Rupert; grandchildren Garrett, Maddie, and Preston; sisters Caroline Kajganic, Florence Hastings, and Margaret Lorretto; nephews and nieces Ray (Sue) Chiappini, Tom (Debbie) Chiappini, Linda (Ben) Miller, Georginia Kajganic, Karol (Jim) Petro, Karen (Gary) Alger, Kenny (Domanic) Hastings, Bill (Wanda) Loretto, Mark (Doreen) Loretto, close friend (girlfriend) Linda Reigler, and Mike Leeders whom Mark thought of as a son.
A Celebration of Life will take place at Arrowhead Banquet Center on May 4, 2025 from 11:30-2:30 p.m. Inurnment will be held on May 5, 2025 at Calvary Cemetery at 11 a.m. in section A.
Memorial donations may be made to North Canton Rotary Club or Aultman Hospice.
