Mark W. "Welby" Kestner

Mark W. "Welby" Kestner, 63, of Apollo, passed away on Friday, November 7, 2025 in his residence.
Born December 5, 1961 in Bethesda, Maryland, he was a son of the late Donald R. Kestner, Sr. & Sandra "Diane" (Walker) Kestner.
Welby was a 1981 graduate of Apollo-Ridge High School. He was employed by the Apollo Borough. He was a golf course groundskeeper for Murrysville and the Apollo Elks Golf Course.
Welby was a member of the Apollo VFD Hose Co. #2, where he was a trustee, Fire Police Officer, Fire Captain, and Lieutenant; the Western Pennsylvania and Armstrong County Fire Associations; and the Apollo First Evangelical Lutheran Church.
Welby enjoyed fishing, hunting, and hanging out at the fire hall with the guys.
In addition to his parents, Welby was preceded in death by his infant brother, Jeffrey Alan Kestner; and his nephew, Nicolas James Kestner.
Welby is survived by his daughter, Courtney Kestner of Apollo; his sister, Melissa M. Kestner of Apollo; his brothers, Thomas E. Kestner of Apollo and Donald R. Kestner, Jr. of Arizona; his nephews, Johnathan Martin on Apollo and Jack Kestner of Watertown, NY; and his nieces, Alexis Kestner of Watertown, NY and Sarah Kestner of Arizona.
Family and friends will be received on Monday, November 10, 2025 in the Curran-Shaffer Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 100 Owens View Ave., Apollo, from 3:00 p.m. until the hour of service at 7:00 p.m. with Pastor Lee Rupert officiating. Private interment in Riverview Cemetery, Apollo, at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Welby's name to the fire hall, the Apollo VFD Hose Co. #2, 325 N 4th St, Apollo, PA, United States, 15613.
