Mark Joseph Knapp

Mark Joseph Knapp, 45, passed away in Phoenix, Arizona on November, 9, 2025. Family will greet friends from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at Iles Dunn's Chapel on Tuesday, November 18, 2025. Funeral services will be held at Iles Dunn's Chapel on Wednesday, November 19, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. Mark will be interred in Glendale Cemetery following services.
Born and raised in Des Moines, Mark graduated from Lincoln High School in 1999 and went on to earn his degree from the University of Iowa in 2005. After college, he made his career in the insurance industry, working with several companies in Des Moines over the course of 15 years before beginning a new chapter with Costco.
Mark lived life with humor, heart, and a deep love for his family and friends. He was passionate about sports, cheering on his beloved Chicago Cubs, Iowa Hawkeyes, and Chicago Bears. He loved golfing and playing slow-pitch softball alongside his brothers.
A fierce cribbage competitor, Mark rarely met a match he couldn't beat. During visits to see his brother Eric at the Iowa Cubs, Mark was known to end up in the clubhouse playing cribbage with members of the visiting team, usually coming out on top. Mark also cherished his trips to the Lake of the Ozarks, a favorite destination since childhood that remained close to his heart throughout his life.
Those who knew Mark will remember his infectious sense of humor, his love of a good joke, and his unmatched talent for one-liners. He had a way of making everyone around him smile and feel welcome. His loyalty, kindness, and laughter will be deeply missed by all who were lucky enough to know him.
Left to cherish Mark's memory are his son, Luka Knapp (age 22 months); wife, Christen Hardinger; mother, Dawn (Manny) Pearson Siprut; brother, Eric (Alicia) Knapp; nieces, Kyra and Julia Knapp; nephews, Andrew and Ryder Knapp; and many other loving aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Gary Knapp; brother, John Knapp; and his son, Liam Knapp.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Mark's wife and son.
Arrangements are being handled by Iles Dunn's Chapel.
