Marilyn Bailey Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Iles Grandview Park Chapel on Dec. 28, 2025.
Marilyn Lorraine Bailey, 82, passed away on December 26, 2025, in Des Moines, Iowa. Family will greet guests from 10:30-11:30 a.m. on Friday, January 2, 2026, at Iles Grandview Park Chapel in Des Moines. A funeral service will follow at 11:30 a.m. She will be interred with her husband, Dennis at Glendale Cemetery.

Marilyn was born on September 19, 1943, in Des Moines to Ira and Idamae (Reel) Wingfield. She grew up on the South Side and attended Lincoln High School. Marilyn knew countless people and always made sure everyone was taken care of. She was a social butterfly, spoke her mind, and loved people by showing up for them, no matter what.

She married Dennis Bailey when she was just 15, and family was always at the center of her life. Marilyn worked for the American Lung Association as a mail clerk and later in food service with Des Moines Public Schools, jobs that fit her perfectly because she loved caring for others.

She loved playing games on her iPad, watching game shows, and being with her family. Her faith was a big part of who she was-she watched church on TV all the time, listened to worship music, and lived out her faith through kindness and generosity.

Marilyn was the kind of person who made sure you ate enough, had what you needed, and felt cared for. Coffee and cookies were always close by, and she had a special love for lemon desserts.

She leaves behind a lot of love, a lot of memories, and a whole lot of people who were better for having her in their lives.

Marilyn is survived by her children: Timothy (Angie) Bailey, Tammy (Frank) Ezzio, and Tina Beard; grandchildren: Adam (Jarod) Ezzio, Aaron (Ashley) Ezzio, Sarah (Steven) Parsley, and Scott Beard; great grandchildren: Aubree, Autumn, Lucas, Charlotte, and Madelyn; brother, Dennis (Glenda) Wingfield; and many loving nieces and nephews.

Marilyn was preceded by her parents; husband, Dennis; son in-law, Ed Beard; and her siblings: Ruth, Alan, Donald, Deanna, Jacquelyn, Kathleen, Evelyn, and David.
