Mark William Langton
Mark William Langton, 65, of Cromwell, CT was born on April 9, 1960, and died peacefully in his sleep on November 18, 2025. Mark was the son of Claire S. Langton and the late John Robert Langton II of West Hartford, CT and a graduate of Central Connecticut State University. As Director of Transportation, Mark coordinated all the bus routes for Middletown Public Schools, always making certain the bus drivers knew they were appreciated. Prior, Mark worked as a claims adjuster for The Hartford, A.E. Oberhaus, and the Town of Middletown. He also started his own construction company in the late 1980s and continued helping family and friends with home renovation projects beyond the years he owned the business. Mark was a dedicated member of the Cromwell Fire Department from the 1990s to 2015 where he held many leadership positions including Captain, Training Officer, and Fire Commissioner. More recently, Mark devoted his time and energy to the Cromwell Children's Coalition working tirelessly to fundraise for the organization by coordinating annual car shows and comedy nights to provide support to Cromwell youth. He was also an auxiliary member of the East Berlin Fire Department where he enjoyed helping in various ways, especially volunteering at the Berlin Fair each Fall. In his younger days, Mark enjoyed adventurous cycling trips and once biked across the United States.
Mark was an incredible person and the most devoted son, brother, uncle, friend, and community member. He exemplified thoughtfulness, generosity, and selflessness in countless ways. A special occasion did not pass without Mark giving cards, flowers, and generous gifts to his family. He spoiled his family and close friends through his love of cooking and was famously known for his buffalo chicken dip, tapioca pudding, and trashcan turkeys. Recently, a favorite pastime of Mark's was helping his friend, Steve, with maintenance and yardwork at his family's camp in the Catskills. He would do anything for anyone and always put others' needs before his own.
Mark was predeceased by his father, Jack Langton. He is survived by his mother Claire, his sisters, Mary-Ann and Lynn Langton, his brother and sister-in-law, Bob and Christine Langton, and his nieces and nephews, Jack, Sylvana, Lee, Nina, Nicky, and Claire. In addition, many of his close friends' children considered him an uncle, among them Paige, Jake, and Olivia Pendl. Mark will be dearly missed by so many people. His constant love, kindness, and generous spirit throughout his life was extraordinary.
Calling hours will be Monday, November 24, 2025, at the Cromwell Funeral Home, 506 Main Street, Cromwell, from 5 to 7 p.m. A service honoring Mark's life with stories will be held at 11 a m. on Tuesday, November 25, 2025, at Elks Lodge 771, 44 Maynard Street, Middletown.
