Janice Lapolla Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Lord Funeral Home - Wolfeboro on Feb. 10, 2026.
Janice Lapolla of Tuftonboro, NH died peacefully with her daughter Alisa and son John by her side on Saturday, February 7, 2026. Born in Norwich, CT on April 25, 1937, Janice spent 6 years in foster care before she and her biological brother were adopted by Stephen and Mary Nelson of Terryville, CT. There she attended the One Room School in Holt District and Prospect Hill School through the 8th grade. She attended one year at Terryville High, then completed high school at Oak Grove School in Vassalboro, ME. Janice graduated from Middlesex Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in Middletown, CT in December of 1960. She married Joseph Lapolla and lived in Middletown before moving to Cromwell, CT. Janice worked several years at the Rocky Hill Veterans Hospital in Rocky Hill, CT and then at the Connecticut Valley Hospital in Middletown. In December of 1975, the family moved to Wolfeboro, NH. Janice worked at Huggins Hospital until 1992, then as a visiting nurse for the Southern Carroll County VNA. In 2002, she stepped away to care for her husband until his death in 2007. She returned to Huggins Hospital to work in the Adult Day Care until her retirement in 2012.

Janice enjoyed all crafts but mostly knitting. She loved to camp and spent many summers in Boothbay, ME. Mostly, she loved spending time with her children and their families. Her many friends have said that they will miss her humor and her smile.

She is survived by one daughter, Alisa Lampron (Randy), and 3 sons, Joseph (Melissa), James, and John (Jennifer) Lapolla; 9 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren; her brother James Nelson of Hampstead, NC as well as several nephews and a niece.

Per her request there will be no service. Memorial donations can be made to Wolfeboro Meals on Wheels or the Tuftonboro Fire Fighters Association.

The family is greatly appreciative of, and would like to thank, the Transitional Care Unit staff at the Laconia Center for the wonderful attention given to our mom since her arrival into your care in November. She adored you all.
