Mark Luce Obituary

He was born February 16, 1942, on the farm in rural Prior Lake, MN, the son of Roman and Louise (Lenzmeier) Luce. The family moved to the O'Dowd Lake farm in 1943. Mark married Arlene Koch on December 30, 1961, at Church of St. Mark, in Shakopee. Prior to retirement, he was employed by Menasha Company.
Mark was a Master Gardener, who specialized in hosta plants. He loved being outdoors caring for his gardens and taking care of the weeds! He helped mow the lawn at St. Mary of the Purification Catholic Church in Marystown, and also helped on the farm when needed. Other hobbies and interests of Mark's were raising ducks and pheasants, traveling, woodworking, and making wine and maple syrup. He also loved spending time, at what was first a cabin, and through his hard work turned it into a lake home on the Horseshoe Chain of Lakes, in Richmond, MN. His kids called him a "professional putzer", when in realty he was a true perfectionist.
Mark is survived by his loving wife, Arlene; daughter and sons, Lori (Tom) Sand, Lonnie (Cheryl) Luce, Larry (Tami) Luce, and Mark Luce; grandchildren, Elizabeth (Travis) Guidoni, Natalie (Blake) Sandsmith, and David Sand (Alexandra Katsarelis), Kari (Brennan) Ertmer, Katie (David) Huebner, and Kelly (Drew) Neubauer, Lauren Luce (Riley McGovern), and Hannah (Kody) Berns, Nick Luce and Katelyn Luce; great-grandchildren, Laila and Lelan Ertmer, Benton, Laken, and Gates Huebner, Brooks, Wells, and Aliza Neubauer, Quentin Guidoni, Lucy and Audrey Sandsmith; siblings, Louanne (Lyle) Krueger, Helene (Steve) Schmitt; sister-in-law, Benilee Luce, and brother-in-law, Clarence Kaiser; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear family friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Roman and Louise Luce; siblings, Leon (Arlene) Luce, Eugene (Mary) Luce, Elsie (Gib) Kerber, Jim (Joanne) Luce, Neil Luce, and Audrey Kaiser.
Visitation Tuesday, September 2, 2025, from 9-11:15 AM, followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 AM, all at Church of St. Mark, 350 Atwood Street South, Shakopee. Interment St. Mary's Cemetery, Marystown, MN.
