In Loving Memory of Mark Robert MacDowell

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved brother, Mark Robert MacDowell 64, on Tuesday, June 17, 2025.

Mark was born in Sweet Home, Oregon, on June 4, 1961. He later moved to Salina, Kansas, with his family, where he graduated from Salina Central High School in 1979 and attended Salina Vo-Tech.

Mark had a love for adventure and a free spirit that never faded. Mischievous at times, he carried a contagious smile, a generous heart, and an unwavering love for God, his family, animals, nature, and the Colorado mountains. His last adventure took him to the Smoky Hill River Festival, where he enjoyed music and arts—two things he truly appreciated.

Throughout his life, Mark worked in various roles including retail, landscaping, and sales. He also owned and operated his own floor-cleaning business. Mark was known for lending a hand to anyone in need and making friends with ease.

Survivors include his sister and brother-in-law Cindy and Tim Buyse, of Salina, Kansas; sister and brother-in-law Julie and David Whitted, of Salina, Kansas; brother and sister-in-law Tim and Denise MacDowell, of Salina, Kansas; and brother David MacDowell, of Bastrop, Texas. As well as many cherished nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, JoAnne Lovejoy MacDowell and Robert MacDowell.

He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Cremation has been chosen and a memorial service will be announced at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Carlson-Geisendorf Funeral Home to help defray funeral costs, or to the Salina Emergency Food Bank, an organization close to the family’s heart.
