With heavy hearts we said goodbye on August 5, 2024, to a beloved man.
Mark E. Moore was born in Prescott, Ariz., to Roy and Kathy Moore on March 23, 1957. Mark was their second son and spent most of his youth growing up on Moore Ranch with his parents and brothers, Alan, and Jack.
Mark began his schooling in Congress, Ariz., and stayed there until 2nd grade. The family then moved often for Roy's work, so Mark attended 3rd grade in Kingman, Ariz.; 4th in Boulder City, Nev.; and 5th in Parker, Ariz. In the summer of 1967, they returned to the Moore Ranch to settle permanently.
Mark went to school in Wickenburg from 6th to 12th grade and graduated from Wickenburg High School in 1975. He earned letters in Football, Baseball, and was active in the Student Council. Following high school, Mark pursued higher education at Phoenix Community College and Northern Arizona University, where he earned an Associate of Arts and Sciences (A.A.S.) degree and a bachelor's degree in construction engineering technologies.
Mark was introduced to Mary Ann by a mutual friend on Gold Rush Days weekend in 1979. The two became inseparable after that weekend.
On May 31, 1980, Mark married the love of his life, Mary Ann Hight at the Presbyterian church in Wickenburg. The "M&M" family was established.
Michelle, their daughter, moved with them to Tempe as he began his career at Gila River Farms. Mark worked as the Agricultural business manager and was an invaluable employee for Gila River farms and the Sacaton, Ariz., community for over 40 years.
After the birth of their first son, Matthew, they relocated to Moore Ranch, where Mark earned his pilot's license. He commuted to work by flying for many years. They finished constructing their home on the ranch around the end of 1985, and their third child, Michael Brandon, was born just in time to move into the new house in 1986. Mark and Mary raised all three children on the ranch, and all of them graduated from Wickenburg High School, following in their father's footsteps.
When Mark was not working, he enjoyed working out on the Ranch, hunting, fishing, camping, reading, and spending time with family & friends. Mark was a member of The Yavapai Cattle Growers & The Wickenburg Elks Lodge.
He retired in May of 2024 and was looking forward to spending time out on the ranch with family. Mark leaves behind his wife, Mary Ann Moore; their children and grandchildren, Michelle and Chris Collins (Sarah Collins), Matthew and Amanda Moore (Ethan and Logan Moore), and Mike and Tifanie Moore (Brooke and Carter Moore); and his siblings, Alan and Cindy Moore, and Jack and Vivian Moore.
We will miss Mark's bright cheerful smile, that twinkle in his eye, the witty humor and wise words of advice. Mark brought so much stability, strength, laughter & knowledge to us all. He was a devoted husband, dad, grandpa, brother, uncle, and friend to so many people. He was considered one of a kind & cherished by anyone that ever-crossed paths with him.
He will be greatly missed and forever in our hearts.
