Mark P. Oesterle, 85, peacefully passed away on February 2, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He was the cherished husband of Barbara (Krause) for 64 years, and devoted father to Sheryl Short (Steve), Kathleen Raddell (Ted), and Mark (Pam). Mark was a proud grandfather to nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren, who brought him immeasurable joy.
A lifelong fan of the Cleveland Indians and the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, Mark enjoyed a rich and fulfilling life. He retired from the Cleveland Metroparks in 1997 after a distinguished 40-year career, rising from surveyor to Director of Park Operations. Mark's dedication extended beyond his work-he was an active member of his community, serving as a board member for Lake Metroparks, a Wickliffe Councilman, and managing the Our Lady of Mt. Carmel festival for many years. His passion for sports led him to coach, referee basketball, and he was an avid lover of nature and travel.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 6 from 4-7 P.M. at Brickman Bros. Funeral Home, 37433 Euclid Ave. in Willoughby.
A Mass of Christian Burial will follow on Friday, February 7 at 10 A.M. at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 29850 Euclid Ave. in Wickliffe, with interment at All Souls Cemetery in Chardon, Ohio.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Birthright of Lake County at birthrightlake.org or Our Lady of Lourdes Shrine in Euclid at srstrinity.com.

Our prayers for your family. We met Mark back when he and my husband Bob coached 8th grade basketball at OLMC school. He was always so pleasant, a wonderful man, liked by everyone.

I am saddened to hear of Mark's passing. My late wife Mary and I always enjoyed his company at the Lake/Geauga Serra Club events.

He and his wife always had a smile and warm conversation that highlighted our times together.

His life was full, as was his heart.

Mrs. Oesterle, I am so sorry to see this today. Your husband was such a nice man, and I always enjoyed seeing you two together at Symphony. I´m happy you had a wonderful life together, and know that there are folks out there who will miss his smile and sweet nature. Kind Regards, Sheri Bonano (Ellen Page´s daughter)
