Mark Petri

With a heavy heart, we announce the death of Mark Edward Petri, age 69 years, on March 26, 2025. Funeral services will begin at 2 pm on Saturday, April 5, at Kinzley Funeral Home in Salem. Interment will follow at St. Ann's Cemetery in Humboldt, SD.
Mark was born February 16, 1956 to Edward and Geraldine (Lind) Petri. He was raised in Humboldt, SD and graduated from West Central High School in 1974. Mark worked at Greeley Packing House for a short time in Sioux Falls, SD. He then called Brighton, Colorado home for the past 30 years. He was a dedicated diesel mechanic at Leed Energy until a car accident in 2015. Despite his injury, Mark continued to live independently, always determined to live life on his own.
A graduate of Calvary Chapel Bible College, Mark's faith was central to his life. As a devoted Christian, he found comfort in the promises of heaven. Mark was passionate about fishing and loved telling tales of catching the biggest fish, even if no one else witnessed it. His affection for Toyotas was legendary and he would never miss a chance to argue that they were the best cars on the road.
Mark's gentle spirit, independence and quiet sense of humor touched everyone he met.
He was preceded in death by his parents and niece, Paula Siemonsma.
He is survived by his siblings, Marcia Siemonsma (Ken), Michael Petri (Cindy), Daryl Petri (Shari), Marilyn Delaney (Joe), and Mary Roggenbuck (Tim), along with many nieces, nephews and cousins. He is also survived by aunts and uncles.
