Dale Sieverding

With sadness we announce the passing of our brother Dale J. Sieverding, 61, of Los Angeles, CA, on December 4, 2024, as a result of an accidental drug overdose. His funeral mass will be held at St. Monica Catholic Church in Santa Monica, CA on December 19, 2024 at 7:00 pm. Dale was the 8th child of Harvey (Bud) & Helen Marie (Jarding) Sieverding of Humboldt, SD, born October 10, 1963. He was raised on the family farm and graduated from West Central High School in 1981. Dale completed further education at the University of South Dakota, IHM Seminary, Winona, MN., The American College in Louvain, Belgium and later completed his Doctor of Sacred Liturgy from Sant Anselmo College in Rome, Italy. Dale was ordained a Catholic priest in 1989 and served parishes in the Diocese of Eastern South Dakota.
In recent years Dale served in music ministry at St Monica Catholic Church, Santa Monica, CA., and most recently as Director of Development for Being Alive in Los Angeles, CA. Dale was a gifted musician, writer and enjoyed world travel.
Dale is survived by his siblings; Joe (Deb), Tucson, AZ, Marilyn (Gary) Fredinburg, Salem, OR, Dan (Connie) Sieverding, Tucson, AZ, Gary (Deb) Sieverding, Tucson, AZ, Jan (Bob) Laufmann, Tucson, AZ, Sister-in-law Rose Sieverding, Humboldt, SD and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in passing by his parents, brother Tom Sieverding, Humboldt, SD, infant sister Annette Sieverding, sister-in-law Joyce Sieverding, Tucson, AZ, nephews Kelly Fredinburg, Salem, OR, and Michael Sieverding, (his godson) Sioux Falls, SD.
