Barbara J. Warne of Hartford, SD passed away on Friday, April 11, 2025 at Diamond Care in Bridgewater, SD.
Barbara Joan O'Kane, daughter of Robert and Lois (Burkey) O'Kane, was born February 18, 1953 in Sioux Falls, SD. She grew up on the family farm near Hartford, SD. She graduated from West Central High School in 1971. Barbara married Thomas Warne on December 17, 1977 at St. George's Catholic Church in Hartford, South Dakota. They enjoyed 34 years together until Tom's passing in 2011.
Barbara spent most of her life in the Hartford/ Humboldt area. In 2012 she moved to Rapid City to be closer to family. Barbara enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Especially, if it involved fishing and camping. She especially enjoyed her time with her grandkids. Later in life, she enjoyed traveling with family and friends.
Honored to have been a part of her life are her children and spouses, Jim and Erin Warne Chino Valley, AZ and Amanda and Kyle Young of Rapid City, SD; grandchildren, Jade Warne, Asher Warne, Andrew Warne, Taylor Warne, Ricky Warne, and Kane Young. brothers: Bob and Jean O'Kane, Tom O'Kane, John and Barb O'Kane, sisters: Patty and Tom Ahrendt, Mary and George Poppenga, Therese and Dean Ahrendt, and Rosemary and Mike Jesse In- laws: Dianne Even, Elaine Bjergaard, Wayne (Nancy) Warne, Kathy Warne, and Marty Jesse numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, her granddaughter, Abigail Rose Warne, her parents, her father and mother-in-law, Thomas and Margaret Warne, her sister Colleen Jesse, brothers-in-law Ernie Bjergaard, Gerald Even, and Doug Warne, nephews Joseph Ahrendt and Keith Warne, and great nieces AriAnna Bennett and Kaitlyn Warne.
Memorial services will begin at 2 pm on Wednesday, April 16, 2025 at St. George Catholic Church in Hartford. Visitation with family present will be from 6:30 – 8:00 pm on Tuesday, April 15, 2025 also at the church.
