Mark Phillips Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Mills Funeral Home - Boonville on Jul. 21, 2022.
Mark James Phillips was born in Constableville, NY on April 20, 1960 and died on Friday June, 17, 2022 at the Lynmoore at Lawnwood, Fort Pierce, Florida. He was the son of John (Jack) and Joan Conway Phillips. When he was 12 years old, he was diagnosed with Children's Rheumatoid Arthritis. He graduated from Adirondack High School in 1978. While he was in school, he was in Troop 13 Boy Scouts, where he participated in camping trips and received an honorary Order of the Arrow with Mark White.
Mark attended Syracuse University at Utica College from 1978 through 1982; he graduated with a bachelor's degree in business communication. He worked at WBRV with George Capron doing the news from 1982 to 1985. In 1985, he moved to Florida and started working as a 911 Dispatcher with the West Palm Beach Sheriff's Department in Belle Glade and West Palm Beach. He was then promoted as supervisor of the dispatcher organization. He worked with the Sheriffs for 29 ½ years until his health would not let him continue working; he retired in 2015.
Through Mark's life, he had many operations per year and wore braces on his arms and legs. He never complained any of his life and never said he was handicapped. He was very independent. He did everything for himself. When his arthritis became too hard for him to live in cold weather, he moved to Florida.
Mark is survived by his mother, Joan Phillips, Alder Creek; his sisters and brothers, Robin Sellers, John III (Audrey) Phillips, Kelly (Mike) Alger, Karen Gengler (Don Peters) and William (Caryn) Phillips; close cousins; an uncle; several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. Mark was predeceased by his father John (Jack) Phillips in 2020 and an infant sister, Sharon in 1953.
A memorial tribute to celebrate Mark's life will be held at the home of his mother (Joan Phillips) on July 30, 2022 from 2-5 p.m. at 11520 Phillips Road, Boonville. Arrangement by Mills Funeral Home, Boonville. For an online message of sympathy please go to www.millsfuneralhomes.com.
