Mark E. Schadd
Mark Edward Schadd, age 60, of Croswell, passed away peacefully in his home on Sunday, November 16, 2025.
He was born August 12, 1965, in Bad Axe, son of Earl and Evelyn (VanErp) Schadd. Mark and Tammie Braun were united in marriage on August 19, 1989, in Harbor Beach. Mark was a wonderful and loving husband, dad, and grandpa. To know him was to love him. His kindness, sense of humor, and storytelling ability made him special to all who knew him.
Mark was an outdoorsman from the start. His childhood was filled with hunting, trapping, and fishing. He graduated from Elkton-Pigeon-Bay Port Laker High School in 1983 and went off to Delta College, where he met Tammie. After earning his Associate's degree, he began his lifelong career in the building industry. He worked many years at Caseville Lumber and then left "God's country" to move to the Marine City area to work at Lumber Jack Building Centers where he worked for 15 years in the Algonac, New Baltimore, Marysville, and Marine City locations. After 17 years, he finished his career in the Contractor Center at Ben's Great Outdoors in Marlette. He was a dedicated, hard worker who thoroughly enjoyed his job. From assisting customers to estimating houses and pole barns, anything you needed, he was your guy. Doing the work he loved, he also had great memories of his hunting trips out west, in Canada, and in many spots around Michigan. He felt so blessed for the opportunity through the kindness of others to get his drop-tine deer and an elk. His fishing took him out on the ice and on the lake, with one of the high points being his Master Angler award he received in 2017. Over the years, Mark was a member in Michigan United Conservation Clubs, Duck's Unlimited, Marlette Sportsmen's Association, Pheasants Forever, and the National Wild Turkey Federation. He also was a member of the Croswell Fair Board, St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Croswell, and St. Edwards on the Lake Catholic Church in Lakeport.
Mark is survived by his loving wife, Tammie; daughters, Lindsay (Alex) Matthews, and Rachel (Brandon) Marrogy; granddaughter, Breia Matthews; mother, Evelyn Schadd; brother, Don (Kimberlee) Schadd; sister, Deb (Gary) Hansen; as well as several sisters- and brothers-in-law; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Earl; infant brother, Dennis; and several aunts and uncles.
Visitation will be from 2 to 9 p.m., Sunday, November 23, at Pomeroy Funeral Home in Lexington. Funeral Services will be held at St. Edwards on the Lake Catholic Church in Lakeport. Visitation at the Church will start at 10 a.m., with a funeral mass at 11 a.m., officiated by Fr. Lee Ascervo, with grave-side service and burial to follow at Croswell Cemetery.
