Robert "Mark" Schultheiss passed away at home with his family by his side on Wednesday, February 26, 2025. He was the husband of Toni (Usher) Schultheiss, with whom he shared 40 years of marriage.
Born in Attleboro on November 18, 1951, to the late Robert and Margaret (Ledbetter) Schultheiss, Mark grew up in Attleboro and attended local schools. He graduated from Hartwick College in NY, where he earned a B.A. in Sociology. His inquiring mind and strong work ethic led him to work first for Plainville Machine Company for many years and then to invest his career for the next 28 years at Hindley Manufacturing. At Hindley, Mark worked in Information Systems and was head of the IT department.
Mark was a loving and kind man, with a sharp mind, a sense of humor, incredible creativity, and strong opinions. In his younger years, Mark loved to set off rockets and "play" with pyrotechnics (to his mother's dismay). He loved practical jokes, often at the expense of his sister Christine. He had a very musical nature and excelled at percussion instruments. He was devoted to family life and caring for their home and yard, which he attended to meticulously. Very importantly, he was a devout Christian and belonged to Liberty Christian Center in Taunton, MA.
Mark is survived by his wife Toni and two sons, Gregory of Nashua, NH, and James of Durham, NC; his two-month-old granddaughter Natalie Joy, and daughters-in-law Michelle and Vivian; three siblings, Nancy Jane of Longmont, CO, Christine Sykes and her husband James Callahan of Manomet, MA, Steven Schultheiss and his wife Rita Schultheiss of N. Salem, MA; two nieces and one nephew. He will be mourned deeply by all who loved and understood him and carry him now in their hearts. We know Mark was on loan from God.
Prior to passing, Mark expressed his deep gratitude to his wife Toni for her love, humor, and steadfast care during health and illness, to his hardworking sons and loving siblings, and to the extraordinary nurses and diligent CNAs of Hope Health.
A private family service is being held at Duffy-Poule Funeral Home.
Donations in Mark's memory may be made to Liberty Christian Center, 159 Winthrop St., Taunton, MA 02780.
