Shirley- Mark Thomas Seidl, 56, of Shirley passed away peacefully on Friday morning, December 29, 2023 in his home surrounded by the love of his family and his faithful dog, Jill.
Mark was born in Groton on October 8, 1967 and grew up there graduating from Groton-Dunstable High School in 1986.
Mark had two long term occupations that he thrived in. He was a cook and manager at Johnson's Restaurant and Dairy Bar in Groton, MA. During his decades working at Johnson's, he was a beloved coworker, friend and mentor to many. He also worked for Combined Energies, Inc. since 2005 where he was a master pool and pool house builder with specialties including tiling, coping, HVAC, and masonry.
Mark's passions in life included black and white drawing, playing guitar, BMX biking, fitness, music, spirituality, and spending time with loved ones and his animals. He was an early contributor and guitarist for the progressive metal band, Project Synergy. He spent time in the late 80s and early 90s writing and playing with them. Some of the work Mark contributed to was released on their album Kaleidoscope in 1998.
He leaves his wife, Audrey L (Sheridan) Seidl of Shirley; two daughters, Samantha Ortiz and her husband, Daniel of Leominster and Taylor Seidl of West Boylston; a son, James Seidl and his wife Florencia of Marysville, WA; a stepdaughter Casie Hicks of Manchester, NH; his parents, Robert and Judith (Phillips) Seidl of Groton; eight grandchildren, Emma Madison Seidl, Elizabeth Bonilla, Edwin Bonilla, Eliana Ortiz, Enzo Ortiz, Daniel Ortiz Jr, Luca Seidl and Scarlett Seidl; a brother, Jason Seidl and his wife LeniRae of Leominster; a brother-in-law, Richard Sheridan and his wife, Laurie of Rutland; five nieces and nephews, Loren Seidl, Cass Martyn-Seidl, Jacob Martyn-Seidl, Jenni Parker and Joseph Sheridan; his mother-in-law, Joyce Sheridan of Rutland; as well as several cousins and beloved friends. He is predeceased by his (Mimi and Papa), Dr. Warren and Edith (Webster) Phillips and his father-in-law Richard L Sheridan.
Mark cherished his beautiful wife of 18 years, Audrey, who took the utmost care to ensure he had his end of life wishes to die peacefully at home surrounded by love. Mark was most proud of being a father. He considered this his greatest accomplishment in life. He also loved being a grandfather to his eight beautiful grandchildren.
In life, Mark had an unmatched gentle and calming presence. He showed kindness and compassion to everyone, even when they didn't deserve it. If Mark called you his friend, know that you were loved beyond measure just as he loved his family.
A celebration of life will be held at a day and time to be announced. Please check back to this website for further details. There are no calling hours at this time. The Anderson Funeral Home, 25 Fitchburg Road, Ayer is assisting the family with the arrangements. www.andersonfuneral.com.
