Mark Shynk Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Jenkins & Newman Funeral Home on May 14, 2025.
COLEBROOK – It is with great sadness that the family of Mark Stephan Shynk, 66, announces his unexpected passing on Tuesday April 22, 2025 at his home in Colebrook, N.H
.
Mark was born in Lynn, Mass., to the late John and Ann (Nadeau) Shynk. He was raised in Peabody and attended Peabody schools before enlisting in the U.S. Marines, in which he proudly served. He was a devoted father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. His passing has left a void in the hearts of many.
Mark was a man of many trades, but his true passion was art. He was truly a very gifted artist. Whenever he had free time he would paint, draw, and in his later years began to venture into sculptures. Many pieces of his art were hung in galleries around the New England area and in other states outside of New England.
He was a loving grandfather to his two grandsons, Cameron and Brandon. He would always keep them laughing and smiling every time they were together. He enjoyed passing on his knowledge of the outdoors and art to them both. They will proudly carry on all of the skills he had taught them.
Mark had a presence about him. If you met him once you would have remembered him always. He was easy going and one always had his full attention during conversations. He would always give his time to those who needed it. He had a way of making you feel special, and he was a man who believed in living with just the basics in life. He loved nature and fulfilled his dream of living surrounded by the woods in his cabin. That was his peaceful place, his home.
He is survived by his daughter, Ann Shynk, 2 grandsons, Cameron and Brandon of Connecticut; his former wife, Deborah Shynk also of Connecticut; his sister Mary Clayton of Massachusetts; his two brothers, David Shynk of New Hampshire, and Jack (Tokie) Shynk of California. He was also the very proud uncle of many nieces and nephews, and also a great uncle to their children.
He is predeceased by a sister, Kathleen Shynk.
As we remember Mark, we celebrate a life well lived, filled with love, lots of laughter and kindness.
A celebration of his life will be held in Colebrook, N.H., on a later date which will be announced.
Anyone wishing to view his talent in art can visit his website at Fineartamerica.com under Mark Shynk.
