It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mark Fulton Smith, who died at home on October 4th, 2025 at Shelbyville, KY, at the age of 66 years of age.

Mark was born on November 2nd in Shelbyville to Jacob McIntyre Smith and Carol Lou Marlow Smith. He grew up in Simpsonville, graduating from Shelby County High School in 1977, and later attended Western Kentucky University, where he studied business. He attended Lawrenceburg First Christian Church with his wife, Karen.

Mark held several positions throughout his career. As a jack of all trades, he was creative, innovative and never stopped thinking of ways to improve upon an existing idea. Above all, being with family and watching his grandchildren thrive was his greatest joy.

Mark is survived by spouse, Karen Ruble Smith, children, Lisle Mae Hardesty (Will) and Hannah McIntyre Mattingly (Ryan), grandchildren, Davin, Noah, Eevie and McKenzie, father, Jacob Smith, siblings, Bryan Smith (Mary), and Angie Smith, and was preceded in death by mother, Carol Lou Smith.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, October 18th from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Shannon Funeral Home, followed by a Celebration of Life at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Shelby County High School Athletic Department in Mark's memory.
