Lois Jean "Jeanne" Dempsey LeCompte, 79, Shelbyville, died Sunday, November 16, 2025 at her home following an illness. A native of Shelbyville, she was the daughter of the late William Dennis Dempsey and Ada Katherine West Dempsey. She graduated from Shelby County High School and began her career with Smith-McKenney Drug Store in downtown Shelbyville. She then worked for Commonwealth Credit Union in Frankfort and then spent 27 years in Kentucky State Government with the Revenue Cabinet, where she retired. In her leisure time, she enjoyed being outdoors and camping. She was a member of Olive Branch United Methodist Church.

In addition to her parents, her husband, James Selbert LeCompte; her son, Jason Selbert LcCompte and four siblings, Mary Ann Jamison, William "Billy" Dennis Dempsey, Bobby Dempsey and Anna Louise Dempsey, preceded her in death.

Survivors include her daughter, Karen Jean Beckley of Shelbyville; her son, William "Willie" Dennis LeCompte (Shaun Kelly) of Shepherdsville; her brother, Danny Joe Dempsey (Maxellet) of Shelbyville; three grandchildren, Candace Young (Tim), Spencer LeCompte (Kiera) and McKenzie LeCompte; three great-grandchildren, Austin Young, Janelle Young and Destiny Young; nine step-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 12 p.m. on Saturday, November 22, 2025 at Webb Funeral Home with visitation 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday and after 10 a.m. on Saturday. Pastor Fred Wiles will officiate, assisted by Rev. Norris Beckley, Sr. Burial will follow at Campbellsburg Cemetery in Campbellsburg.
