Mark R. Sutherland, 77, passed away April 26, 2022, from complications of Parkinson's disease. He was born on December 17, 1944, to Mae (Maag) and Reed Sutherland in Santa Ana, California. He moved with his family to Florida in 1959. He graduated from Winter Haven High School in 1962 and went on to graduate from Florida State University. He was a dedicated teacher, football coach, track and fieldcoach, and was retired as an USDA Inspector.
Mark is survived by his wife of 37 years, Cheryl (Butler) Sutherland; his children, Stephanie (Kevin) Warren, Jennifer Martin, and Luke Sutherland; grandchildren, Andrew, Calahan, Skyla, Zack, Cooper, Liliana, Eva, and Jason; and brothers, David, Alan, and Steve.
A Celebration of Life will be held Friday, June 24, 2022, at 5 p.m. at Sanlan Golf Club Community Center, 2505 Sanlan Golf Drive, Lakeland, Florida.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Central Florida Speech and Hearing Center, www.cfshc.org. Donations also may be made by contacting the office, 863-686-3189.
