Mark Tschaenn Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Soller-Baker Funeral Homes, Inc. – Lafayette Chapel on Feb. 24, 2026.
Mark Tschaenn
December 3, 1961 – February 19, 2026

Mark Tschaenn, a devoted servant of God, completed his earthly journey in Indianapolis, Indiana on the evening of February 19, 2026, at the age of 64.

Born on December 3, 1961, in Lafayette, IN to James and Catherine Tschaenn, Mark's life was defined by a calling to serve. After honorably serving 12 years in the United States Air Force, Mark followed a divine calling into the ministry and became a pastor. For over 30 years, he dedicated his life to shepherding others, sharing the message of hope and salvation found only in Jesus Christ.

Even while he was committed to his true calling of pastoring churches, Mark was employed in a variety of fields. Some of his favorites were undoubtedly working at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and teaching. For the past several years, he shared his wisdom with the students of IMSA alongside his wife, teaching Character Ed and various STEM classes. His relationships with both the staff and students there have been a profound blessing to him, especially as he battled cancer these last four years.

Mark was a man of many talents and interests. He enjoyed woodworking, playing trivia games, strumming his guitars, and watching NASCAR races. But Mark's greatest earthly joy was his family. He is survived by his devoted wife of 43 years Teresa "Terri" (Miller) Tschaenn and his three children and their spouses: Jennifer and Brian Haynes, Nathan and Rebecca Tschaenn, Christina and Caleb Fulton. Whether engaged in a family game night, camping, or enjoying a long-awaited vacation like the family's many trips to Disney World, Mark was at his happiest when surrounded by his loved ones.

His legacy also continues through his six beloved grandchildren: Evelyn, Elijah, Eleanor, Allyson, Oliver, and Cora. It is also alive in his loving parents, James and Catherine, his siblings, Donna and Jason, as well as nieces and nephews.

Mark didn't just preach the Gospel; he showed it in every occupation and conversation. Everyone who knew him was touched by his deep, steady faith. He lived by the words of the Apostle Paul, which serve as the perfect coda to his life:
"I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day." - 2 Timothy 4:7-8

Mark has crossed his final finish line and now awaits the return of the Lord he served so faithfully.
