MARK E. TWEEDY
Mr. Mark Tweedy of Okawville, IL departed this life at his residence on Sunday, June 29, 2025, at 10:38 A.M. following a sudden illness. He had attained the age of 71 years, 9 months, and 13 days.
Mark was born in East St. Louis, IL on September 16, 1953, the son of Robert M. and Gladys (nee Whitaker) Tweedy. He was united in marriage to Rita Crossen in Chester, IL on March 4, 1994, and she survives his passing.
Mark was a 1972 graduate of Okawville High School. He worked as a truck driver and as a supervisor at Exide Battery Factory in St. Louis and at Jakel Inc. in Highland, IL. Mark liked spending time outdoors and enjoyed golfing and fishing. He was an avid sports fan and especially enjoyed watching St. Louis Cardinals baseball.
Left to mourn his passing is his wife, Rita Tweedy of Okawville; two sons, Micah Weedon of Alton, IL and Robert A. Tweedy and wife Christine of St. Libory, IL; three grandchildren, Kimber and Alyse Tweedy and Blake Luechtefeld and wife Kimberly all of St. Libory; one great grandchild, Mya Luechtefeld; three sisters, Carey Dulle of Fort Worth, TX, Geraldine Borderwisch of Coaling, AL, and Christine Leopold and husband Jerry of Jacksonville, FL; a sister-in-law, Brenda Tweedy of Red Bud, IL; brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Anthony Tweedy Sr. and Robert M. Tweedy Jr; a sister, Linda Cocklin; and two brothers-in-law, Randy Borderwisch and Kevin Dulle.
In accordance with the wishes of Mark and his family, cremation will be performed. There will be no public services.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice and will be accepted by the Campagna Funeral Home.
