Mark A. Vartanian, 61, of Shrewsbury, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, June 16, 2025.
He leaves his sister, Janet Sheffield and her husband Kim, of Groton; two nephews and a niece; several cousins; and his girlfriend and beloved companion, Elizabeth Brenner, of Shrewsbury. Mark was predeceased by his brother, Richard Vartanian; and his parents, Harry and Rose (Nigoghosian) Vartanian. He was very devoted to his late beagle Luke.
Mark was born in Worcester, and was raised and educated in Shrewsbury. He graduated from Shrewsbury High School, Class of 1981, and attended Quinsigamond Community College. Most recently, he worked delivering auto parts, and formerly worked maintenance for various apartment buildings.
Mark loved music, and started playing guitar in his teens, ultimately joining several local rock bands, including Sudden Impulse and Shades of Grey. Some of his favorite bands were Yes, Boston, Journey and Eric Clapton.
Mark was also a devout Christian and enjoyed studying the Bible and biblical prophecy. He was a thoughtful and caring person who was always willing to help others out by offering them a ride or running errands for them. He was friendly, humble, and accepting, and he enjoyed connecting with all types of people.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to your local animal shelter/rescue.
Mark's family will be celebrating his life privately, with the assistance of the Britton-Shrewsbury Funeral Home.
