Mark A. Wallace

Mark Andrew Wallace, age 64, passed away on Saturday, March 7, 2026.

Mark was born on September 16, 1961, in Flint, Michigan, to Don and Margaret Wallace. He grew up in a lively, close knit family with his siblings—Matt, Jean, John, and Ann—forming bonds that shaped him throughout his life.

From an early age, Mark found joy in the outdoors. He loved hunting and fishing with his dad and brothers, and he never turned down a good game of Euchre, proudly holding the title of champion among his friends. His sharp wit, quick humor, and easy laugh made him a favorite partner at the card table and a joy to be around. People were naturally drawn to Mark—he had a gift for making everyone feel welcome, included, and entertained. To know him was to love him, and to be his friend was to have a true one.

Mark graduated from Grand Blanc High School in 1979 and soon set out to build a life defined by hard work, adventure, and resilience. In 1980, he moved to Galveston, Texas, where he spent two years working in construction and pumping concrete. He then spent three years at a petroleum distribution center, fueling boats, barges, and tugs— Work that fit the way he lived: strong, steady, and committed.

In 1985, Mark relocated to Florida, working in The Villages (formerly Orange Blossom Gardens) as a foreman in golf course maintenance. He later moved to Bradenton, Florida, where his year concrete career truly began, starting with Tarmac. Known on the radio as “Homer,” he built a reputation for reliability, grit, and skill.

On June 6, 1991, Mark moved to Wisconsin to continue his concrete career with Dodge Concrete (Lycon) before retiring in Dec 2024. It was the move to Wisconsin where he met the love of his life, Heidi (Mathweg) Wallace. They married on May 27, 1995, and together they built a life grounded in love, partnership, and family. Their greatest joy came with the arrival of their daughter, Sarah, whom Mark adored and cherished. Mark coached Sarah’s softball team, Beaver Dam Tornados, for many years. He also took pride in watching Sarah succeed in anything she did, especially bowling.

Mark touched countless lives and was loved by all who knew him. An avid Detroit Lions fan, Mark also enjoyed nights at the racetrack watching Skyler Woods (32X), taking his Harley Davidson on trips with his wife and dearest friends, Donnie and Stacy Woods. Mark also enjoyed spending time outdoors, especially hunting with his best friends Donnie Woods, Kirk Warmka, and Jay Marquardt. And if you knew Mark, you knew his favorite artist was Kid Rock.

Mark’s life was a testament to loyalty, strength, and love. He gave generously of himself—to his family, his friends, and anyone fortunate enough to cross his path. Though his absence leaves an ache that cannot be measured, his spirit lives on in the stories he told, the laughter he shared, and the love he poured into those around him. His memory will remain a steady light for all who knew him.

Mark is survived by his wife, Heidi (Mathweg) Wallace; daughter and son-in-law, Sarah (Wallace) and Jason Boeldt; siblings, Ann (Wallace) Gehris, Matt (Katrina) Wallace, and Jean (Tim) (Wallace) Nielson. He is further survived by his father-in-law, Gerald Mathweg; brothers-in-law; Timothy (Cathy) Mathweg and Anthony (Tracy) Mathweg; and sister-in-law, Robin (Mark) Johnson. Additionally, he is survived by many nieces and nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Mark is preceded in death by his parents, Don and Margaret Wallace; stepfather, Jim Presley; step-mother, Sadie Wallace; brother, John Wallace; mother- and father-in law, Robert and Bobbie Schmidt; sister-in-law, Michelle Guidry; brother-in-law, Billie Joe Guidry; and aunts, uncles, cousins, and grandparents.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thank you to all that cared for Mark in his final months: Commonheart Hospice (Jennifer Furlong, Barb Fendt, Julia Bell, Lindsey Wolf, and Rev. Ray Benzanson) and the entire staff at Rainbow Inpatient Hospice Center.

A celebration of life for Mark will take place at a later date.

Heavenly Father, we thank You for the gift of Mark’s life and for the love he brought into this world. Grant comfort to those who mourn him and surround his family with Your peace that surpasses all understanding. May Mark rest in Your eternal care, free from pain and filled with Your everlasting light. Help us carry forward his kindness, his strength, and his joy. Amen.
