Marlene Rose Abbott-McCune, affectionately known as Marley, passed away on May 7, 2025, at McLaren Macomb Hospital. Born on March 28, 1968, in Port Huron, Michigan, she was the cherished daughter of Clare Charles and Geraldine Marie (Garlick) Middleton. Marley's vibrant spirit and infectious laughter left an indelible mark on the hearts of all who knew her.
Marley's life was a testament to her unwavering love for her family. She is survived by her devoted husband, Sam; beloved son, Chad (Alex Koehlke) Atwood of Washington D.C.,step-children, Rebecca and Rachel Abbott-McCune, Jason (Jennifer) Atwood, and Carrie Atwood-Pressley; parents, Clare and Gerry Middleton; sisters, Theresa Middleton and Melissa (Erik) Kimball; her playful fur babies, Stella Rae and Bo Jaxon; her nephews, Cody (Sara) Kimball and Clay Kimball; as well as many cousins and dear friends.
Marley's grandparents, Earl H. and Theresa E. Garlick, and her aunt, Jacqueline Williams, preceded her in death. They have now welcomed her into eternal peace.
Marley's life was one of boundless energy and enthusiasm. Her sense of humor was legendary, often tricking people with her wit and leaving them in stitches. She had a passion for garage sales, where she would embark on near-death experiences, refusing to let anything slow her down, not even the sight of a last-minute sale sign. Her love for gardening was evident in the beautiful oasis she created at home, which was her sanctuary.
Marley's adventurous spirit took her on travels far and wide, where she collected stories that would become the stuff of legend. She embraced life with open arms and an open heart, pouring herself into the lives of others through daily phone calls, random acts of kindness, and unexpected surprises.
Marley's spirit will continue to shine brightly through her final act of generosity as an organ donor, giving the gift of life to others in need. Her legacy of love and laughter will live on in the memories shared by her family and friends. She was the brightest light in any room, funny, fierce, and compassionate.
Those who knew Marley will remember her as someone who brought joy and laughter to others. She was a force of nature, never missing an opportunity to make the most of every moment. Her memory will be cherished, and her spirit will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know her.
A celebration of Marley's life will be held on Saturday, May 17, 2025, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Grace Memorial Life Celebration Center, 4521 Ravenswood Road, Kimball, MI 48074.
