Marlene Barnard Obituary

Marlene Kathryn Barnard, 85, of Anderson passed away surrounded by her family on Thursday, January 11, 2024. She was born March 31, 1938, in Fort Wayne, Indiana to the late Verne and Beatrice Ainsworth. On June 8, 1963, she married James G. Barnard. Marlene was a 1956 graduate of Monroeville High School where she was very active in cheerleading. Following high school she moved to Decatur, Indiana. Marlene loved animals especially dogs. She was an avid reader. She could read 3 or 4 books a week, which she loved to do. She was a big shopper; she sometimes would get carried away shopping on the QVC Network. Marlene was a sports fan, even though she may not have understood the game she always supported the Indianapolis Colts and the Indiana Pacers and the USA Olympics. Marlene is survived by 2 daughters, Jana Marie Barnard-Johnson and Jill D. Adkins (John); 1 son James J. Barnard (Johnna); 5 grandchildren, Jordan Hannon (Ross), James Devan Barnard (Emily), Jacob Adkins (Christina), Logan Barnard (Brenna), and Jayden Stiers (Wayde); 8 great grandchildren, Gavyn, Riley, Calliope, Delilah, Beau, Lucy James, Pax and soon to join the family Vivyan. Marlene is preceded in death by her husband of 37 years, James G. Barnard; brother, Gayle Ainsworth; sister-in-law, Judy Ainsworth; grandson, James Adkins; 2 great grandchildren, Stella Stiers and Bennett Barnard. Services will be held on Saturday, January 20, 2024, at 2:00 PM at Daleville Christian Church with Pastor Gary McManus officiating. Visitation will be from 12:00 pm until the time of the service. A cremation will follow. Arrangements have been entrusted to Ballard and Sons Funeral Home, Daleville Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Indiana Donor Network, 3760 Guion Road Indianapolis, Indiana 46222. Envelopes will be available at Daleville Christian Church, 14220 W Daleville Road Daleville, Indiana 47334. You may express condolences or share a memory of Marlene at www.ballardandsons.com.
