Marlene Ishihara
Marlene was born on May 15, 1935 in Syracuse, Utah to James C. and Lula M. Walker. She's the third of five children born to the family. She grew up in Ogden and Davis County, going to school in Clearfield.
She married Perry L. Atkinson in 1952 and they were blessed with six children: Randall, Richard, Shari, Brenda, Ronald and Robert.
She later married Donald Wilson and through this union was blessed with her youngest daughter, Marianne. Her final marriage was to Stanley Ishihara.
Marlene loved her family. Her children were everything to her.
She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was blessed with a promise to be a mother to many others beyond her own children, and that is what she did. She opened her heart and home to so many through the years, they were all family to her and they loved her for it. She was famous for her big Sunday dinners, which included her delicious rolls. She loved camping with family, especially spending time at Big Creek and South Fork.
She loved to read, watch western movies and having simple family home evening lessons with her grandchildren. She loved her Savior and we were blessed to have her. Her example of unconditional love will live on through all who knew her.
She departed this life to return to her Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ on November 28, 2024.
She was preceded in death by her parents, three siblings, two sons, two grandsons, and one great grandson. She is survived by her children, Shari (Steven) Lockwood, Brenda (Russell) White, Ronald (Julie) Atkinson, Robert Atkinson, Marianne (Richie) Lincoln and daughter-in-law, Pamela Atkinson. She has 33 grandchildren, 74 great grandchildren, and 10 great-great grandchildren. It is a legacy of love and faith.
On Friday, December 6th, a service honoring her life will take place at 12:00 p.m. at her ward chapel, located at 2915 West 4425 South, Roy, Utah. A viewing will precede the service from 10:45-11:45a.m. The internment will take place at the Syracuse Cemetery. Services entrusted to Myers Mortuary in Layton, Utah.
