1958-2024
Marli Daoud Haddy passed away peacefully surrounded by family after a long fight with cancer at the age of 66 on 8/29/2024 in Marion, Iowa.
Marli was born on August 17th, 1958 in Sao Paolo Brazil, and moved to the United States in 1972 with her family- Mother (Josephine Daoud), father (Elias Daoud) and her 4 siblings: Ivette Ayache, George Daoud, Mikhael Daoud and Samir Daoud.
She was a loving mother of two children: Aaron Joseph Haddy (wife Brianna Haddy) and Jessica Leigh Haddy (husband- Randy Pfab). She was also the proud grandmother of 3 children: Walter Rye Haddy, Monica Marli Haddy, and Mikayla Louise Badenhorst.
Marli had 13 nieces and nephews- Angela, Nicholas, Marcello, Michel, George, Elias, Dyane, Victoria, Tony, Alex, Victor, Rita, and Elias.
She was preceded in death by her father (Elias Daoud), mother (Josephine) and eldest brother (George).
Throughout her life, Marli was a blessing to all of those around her. She was an amazing mother and grandmother who adored her children. She was a kind, loving, generous and hard-working woman who built a business (Special Effects Salon and Spa) along with her partners, all of whom she adored. She also had numerous friends and coworkers as well as clients-all of whom became like family. Of Lebanese descent, and being born in Brazil and immigrating to the United States at the age of 14, she spoke 3 languages. She was truly a marvel.
A Celebration of Life will held on Sunday, September 1st from 2:30-5 PM at St George Church (3650 Cottage Grove Ave SE, Cedar Rapids, IA 52403).
In lieu of flowers, donations are encouraged to St. George Church, Hall Perrine Cancer Center, and Hospice House of Mercy.
