Mr. Marlin D. Back

Marlin D. Back, 60, of Columbus, passed away Tuesday, February 25, 2025 at 11:05 p.m. at I.U. Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.
Born on July 30, 1964, in Columbus, the son of Tommy D. and Yvonne Boggs Back.
On May 12, 2000, Marlin married Kim M.R. Brummett and together they built a life filled with love and mutual respect. Marlin's family was his pride and joy, and he is fondly remembered by his beloved wife of 24 years, Kim M.R. Back of Columbus, his devoted mother and stepfather Yvonne Back Ison and Quenton Ison of Columbus, his loving children, Marc (Colleen) Ruddick of Greenwood, and Zach (Kara) Ruddick of Indianapolis; granddaughters, Olivia and Quinn Ruddick; siblings, Kevin Back of Columbus, Tommy (Robyn) Back of Nashville, and Beth (Mike) Barnes of Elizabethtown.
He was preceded in death by his father, Tommy D. Back.
Marlin proudly served in the United States Army and had previously worked as a dialysis technician within the medical industry. Marlin was a member of the Columbus Corvette Club.
A man of many interests, Marlin had a passion for tinkering, a love for reading, and an impressive collection of comic books. Yet, nothing could surpass the joy he derived from spending quality time with his granddaughters. He approached life with a loving heart, lending a hand to anyone in need, and always radiating kindness. Marlin's legacy is a tapestry woven with love, service, and the simple acts of goodness that together create an unforgettable portrait of a life well-lived. He will be dearly missed and forever remembered by those who loved him.
The funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m. Monday at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street with Pastor Evan Guse officiating.
Family and friends may gather for visitation from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home.
Burial will follow at Westport Cemetery. Military rites will be performed by the Bartholomew County Honor Guard.
