Marsha Herlevi Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel & Monuments - Gothenburg on Dec. 13, 2025.
Marsha (Kuhlman) Herlevi, 68, originally of Gothenburg now in Sterling Heights MI, passed away in her home on November 22, 2025. Marsha was born on January 2, 1957 in Gothenburg Nebraska to Willard and Della (Franzen) Kuhlman. She helped on her father's farm when she was little, with important tasks like wrangling Pinkie the cow, making sure the farm cats got fresh milk during milking time, and giving the chickens rides in her baby carriage. She attended Country School District 47 with her older and younger brothers, Kirk and Phil, until 7th grade where she started "town school" in Gothenburg. She played flute in the marching band and a flute quartet. She was also a member of the pep club, cheering on her home team. She attended the University of Nebraska and graduated with a degree in environmental science in 1979.
After graduating from university, she went to work with the US Army at TARDEC in Sterling Heights Michigan. She retired in May of 2015 after 36 years of service. Here she met her husband Michael, in a mixed softball league through work. They also played in a bowling league together. They married on November 12, 1983 in a small ceremony at the American Lutheran Church in Gothenburg and spent many years traveling. From Hawaii for their honeymoon, to Chile, Brazil, Spain, Germany, Norway, Sweden, and southern Japan and across the US from San Francisco, the Everglades and Niagara Falls.
Marsha and Michael welcomed their only child, a daughter, Morgan, in June 1993. There was always red in the house, for her husband's Wisconsin Badgers and her beloved Nebraska Cornhuskers. There was also often the sound of a sewing machine working on costumes and outfits for Morgan and the green of a philodendron that came from her grandmother Rixte. She watched her daughter play her flute through high school, doing marching band like she did. If she wasn't in front of the tv or next to the radio listening to a Husker game, or out on her daily morning walk, she could be found in her polka dot reading chair, reading the latest thriller from the library. She was often interrupted by her posse of squirrels waiting for their morning treat. She regularly attended Husker football and volleyball games being hosted by the Wisconsin Badgers and Michigan State Spartans. She always had a card ready to mail for any occasion and loved to catch up with her old coworkers, the "Lunch Ladies" every month.
Marsha was preceded in death by her parents, Willard and Della Kuhlman and her husband Michael.
Visitation will be held, 2:00 - 6:00 PM, Friday December 19, 2025 at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel in Gothenburg with the family present from 4-6 p.m.
