Marsha Scalf McDonald, 82, of Fayetteville, passed away peacefully on October 15, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
Born on December 4, 1942, in Conway, SC, she was the daughter of the late Barney and Mary Agnes Scalf. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Ronnie Scalf.
Marsha is survived by her husband of 65 years, Jerry Franklin McDonald; her children, Jerri Lynn Traflet, Jerald Franklin "Frank" McDonald, Jr. (Kathy), Susan Carpenter (Matthew), and Diane Pruett (Paul); her grandchildren, Taylor McDonald, Mary Catherine Pruett, Jared McDonald and Meredith Traflet; her sisters, Carol Hessenflow and Nena Morton.
Marsha was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend whose kindness and generosity touched countless lives. She was married to her beloved husband, Jerry Franklin McDonald, with whom she shared a lifetime of love and partnership. Together, they built a beautiful family and a strong foundation of faith and service. Marsha worked for many years in the family business, McDonald Grading Company, where her dedication and work ethic were an inspiration to those around her. Beyond her professional life, she poured her heart into serving others. She faithfully taught Sunday School and cared for the babies in the church nursery for over 25 years at Layton Chapel Baptist Church, where she was a longtime and devoted member. Marsha was also an active member of the Christian Women's Club and the National Association of Women in Construction.
A gifted gardener and craft enthusiast, Marsha found joy in nurturing both her plants and the people in her life. Her gracious spirit, giving heart, and willingness to help anyone in need will be lovingly remembered by all who knew her.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, October 19, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Layton Chapel Baptist Church, followed by a funeral service at 3:00 PM. Burial will take place immediately afterward in the church cemetery. Services entrusted to Adcock Funeral Home and Crematory, Spring Lake.
