Charles Ackroyd Obituary

A proud Decorated U.S. Army veteran, Charles served his country with honor and continued to represent it as a member of the U.S. Army Skeet Shooting Team, competing in the NSSA World Skeet Championship in Savannah, Georgia, in 1990. His love for trap shooting was lifelong, and he achieved distinction as the North Carolina State Handicap Champion in 2007.
Charles was a devoted husband to Okie Anne Ackroyd, with whom he shared many cherished years. He is survived by Okie, his children Eric Duane Ackroyd and Laura Anne Hart, six grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles L. and Lina Ackroyd; his brothers, Creighton and James Ackroyd; and his son, Gregory Ackroyd.
Charles will be remembered for his sharp aim, his quiet strength, and the love he had for his family and sport. His legacy lives on in the stories shared by those who knew him and the memories held close by those who loved him.
