Marsha Lynn Shackelford, 73, of Brownwood formerly of Stamford, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, Marsha Lynn Shackelford passed peacefully into the arms of our Lord on Tuesday, May 13, 2025 in Abilene. A visitation will be held at 10:00 a.m. in the Kinney-Underwood Funeral Home, on Friday May 16, 2025 with the service to follow at 11:00 a.m. in the Funeral Home Chapel with Chris Scott, Clyde Slimp and Jerry Boles officiating. Burial will be in the Johnson Cemetery in Munday, Texas following the service.

Marsha was cherished by friends and family across Texas and beyond. She was born August 9, 1951 in Childress, Texas, to Mike Royall and Opal Royall (later Karas), and was the youngest of three siblings-fondly remembered as spirited, talkative, and delightfully accident-prone from a young age.

She spent her early years in Childress before moving to Stamford, where she formed lifelong friendships and truly came into her own. A high school cheerleader with boundless energy and the heart of a Bulldog, it was in Stamford that she met the love of her life, Gene "Sonny" Shackelford Jr.-known to friends simply as "Shack."

Together, Marsha and Shack built a beautiful life, welcoming their three children: Stacie, Kelly, and Jennifer. Though Marsha often joked that she "winged" motherhood, those who knew her would say she mastered it with love, patience, and humor.

As Gene's coaching career led them to different towns, Marsha embraced each new chapter with resilience and warmth-thriving in her roles as coach's wife, neighbor, and friend. Over the years, she worked as a telephone operator, bank teller, bookkeeper, and insurance associate. But no matter the job, everyone knew Marsha was the one truly keeping things running.

She is preceded in death by her beloved husband Gene, her father Mike Royall, mother Opal Karas, sister Lavane Albritton and son-in-law, Joshua Stegman.

She is survived by her brother Elvin Royall of Lincoln, CA; sister-in-law, Vickie Boles of Alvarado, TX, daughter Stacie Stegman of Rockwall, TX; son Kelly Shackelford and wife Margaret of Nemo, TX; and daughter Jennifer Guthery and husband Blake of Early, TX.

Marsha's greatest joy came from her grandchildren, who brought endless light to her life: Carter Shackelford of Granbury, TX; Davis Shackelford of Sanger, TX; Zachary Stegman of Nashville, TN; Mackenzie Stegman of Crowley, TX; and Brooklyn and Landrie Guthery of Early, TX. She was also blessed with two great-grandchildren who never failed to bring a smile to her face-Aubrey Watson and Kam Shackelford.

Marsha lived a life full of love, laughter, and fierce devotion to her family and friends. Her warmth, wit, and spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested everyone to please donate blood with Carter BloodCare on behalf of their sweet Mom.
