After a heroic 200+ day battle with Fusion Positive Rhabdomayosarcoma, Marshall D Brown passed away holding his Mom and Dad's hand on Tuesday, February 22, 2022. Marshall was born to Ashley (Broderick) Brown and Brady Jon Brown on May 26, 2016.
Baby Marshall always greeted his family and friends with a wide toothless smile and adorable giggle. As Marshall grew, his personality continued to grow as well. Marshall's sweet voice had two settings; loud and even louder, and only one speed...fast! He could not wait to tell everyone exactly what he was thinking and how you could help him make whatever he was doing even better.
Marshall was the ultimate brother, cousin, and friend. He loved his older brother Bennett and little sister Zaida unconditionally. When Bennett was at school, Marshall would always ask, "when are the boys coming home?" He would plan all day for what he would play with Bennett and his cousin Ren when they arrived home from school. Nerf gun wars, building forts, playing baseball, soccer, and of course, shooting some hoops were his favorite activities with the boys. Marshall and his little Z (Zaida) loved each other so much. They loved to build things with wooden blocks and plastic cups, and Marshall would even play kitchen and family with his little sister.
Marshall was a worker! Marshall is known as the Head Groundskeeper! Marshall would follow his Dad with his own lawnmower and trimmer and make sure the grass was always pristine, with perfect stripes like the stripes on the field at the "Ballpark." He would even help Grandma Sherry pull weeds and plant flowers. He loved getting his hands dirty and helping Grandpa and Grandma Broderick with all the construction work on the house. He proudly wore his gloves and hard hat and was always willing to drill or hammer anything that needed it. Marshall's favorite activity to work on was his jump shot. He shot on his hoop outside, and later on, Mom let him move it inside. He would beat his brother and Dad at HORSE and play "real games" of Jazz vs. Warriors. When most kids watch cartoons, Marshall would turn on YouTube and search for instructional videos of Steph Curry teaching how to shoot a basketball. He would watch last night's Jazz game from beginning to end and then tell his Dad who played well and who "struggled."
Marshall was a dreamer, and he dreamed of his future until the very end of his life. Marshall loved to tell you about his plans. He was going to go to college and then play in the NBA. He couldn't wait to turn eight years old and go to New York and see the Yankees play at Yankee Stadium with Mom and Dad like his brother Bennett had done. Marshall would build houses on Minecraft and create bedrooms for everybody in the family with the things they would like in their rooms. He loved to plan what gifts he would give to his family and friends. Marshall fulfilled some of his plans and dreams in the last weeks of his life due to the incredible generosity of close friends and complete strangers. He built his "epic" lightsaber at Disneyland one week before his death. He told his Dad, "This is sick! Dad, can we come back here when I feel better?"
Finally, Marshall was the definition of courage, determination, and fight! Marshall was diagnosed with Fusion Positive Rhabdomyosarcoma, a terminal form of soft tissue cancer, on August 5th, 2021. He faced this great demon head-on and fought it every single day. Marshall did everything his exceptional medical team at Primary Children's Hospital and Huntsman Cancer Institute asked of him. He underwent chemotherapy treatment and radiation treatment and never flinched. When he was told he needed to take his medicine, start a new treatment, get tattoos to mark the spots on his body where technicians would shoot radiation into his body, his regular reply was, "well, we've got to do it, right?"
Marshall is survived and will be forever remembered by his parents, Ashley and Brady, brother Bennett Bryce, sister Zaida Jeen, grandparents Sherry Trimble, Dale, and Gaylynn Broderick, and his many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. He is welcomed in heaven by his Grandparents Jeen and Roger Brown, Grandpa Dale Trimble, and his two uncles, Bryce and Brian Brown.
The family welcomes you to a viewing held on Sunday, February 27th, at Lindquist's Bountiful Mortuary in Bountiful (727 North 400 East, Bountiful, Utah) from 5:00 to 7:30 PM. On Monday, February 28th, funeral services will be held at the Bountiful Heights Stake Center (33 South Moss Hill Drive, Bountiful, Utah) at 11:00 AM.
