It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Akeem Dupree Booker, who left this world on his 35th birthday, August 21, 2025, due to congestive heart failure. Akeem was born on August 21, 1990, to the union of Cedric Booker Sr. and ReNae Scott in
Ogden, Utah. Akeem brought joy and light into the lives of all who knew him. Akeem attended Layton Christian Academy where he played High School Football and later graduated from Mountain High School. After high school, Akeem relocated to Portland, Oregon, with his mother and brothers, then moved back to Utah.
Akeem enjoyed hanging out and being social with his many friends. He enjoyed working with computers and had a gift for all things technical. He worked many years for Focus Services and Connextion Point doing customer service. Akeem was a Philadelphia Eagles fan, and he had a passion for basketball and football. Akeem enjoyed video games, which he enjoyed sharing with his cousins, brothers, and friends. Whether cheering for his favorite team, competing on the screen, or laughing with loved ones, he brought an energy that was both uplifting and unforgettable. Akeem's real gift was PEOPLE! He loved taking care of and spending time with his elders; he fixed their phones, took them to doctor's appointments, babysat his little cousins, helped with chores, watched games with them, anything to make sure that they were alright. He cherished his grandmother; their relationship was special. He was a gentle giant with a smile and laugh that could light up any room. All the kids, especially his nephews and little cousins, loved him. He cherished time spent with his loved ones, building memories filled with laughter and love. Family was the heart of Akeem's life. He was a devoted son, big brother, grandson, nephew, boyfriend, cousin, and friend whose warmth, humor, and kindness touched everyone around him. There is nothing he wouldn't do for his mother, and he always referred to her as beautiful. Though his time with us was far too short, Akeem leaves behind a legacy of love, joy, and the reminder to live life with passion and connection with family.
He is survived by his Mother, Renae Scott, Father Cedric Booker, Sr. (April), Brothers Cedric Booker Jr. (Ruby), Darius Burrus, Julius Scott, and Joudon Wilder, one Sister Lillyan Booker, Two Nephews that he adored and loved, Preston and Kairo Booker, and a host of Aunts, Uncles, and countless cousins and friends who will carry his memory forward. The family would like to extend a special thank you to his girlfriend, Lisa Espi, for continuing love and care for Akeem every step of the way. And to Shawn & Wes and the entire Myers Staff at Myers Mortuary.
A going away celebration of Akeem's life will start with a viewing on Thursday, September 4th, at 6 pm – 8 pm at Myers Mortuary - 845 Washington Blvd.,
