Marshall Edward Cooksey

 

Marshall Edward Cooksey was born January 24, 1939, to the late Velmore Cooksey and Laura Turner Cooksey. He entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, October 10, 2023.

He was preceded in death by his Beloved wife of 56 years, Emma Jean Cooksey, his grandson, Marcellous J. Cooksey, his parents, brothers, Robert and Eddie Cooksey, sisters, Willie M. Ramey and Sheila Green.

He leaves to cherish his memory, daughters Tangia (Jimmie) Bryant Jr., Marcia Cooksey, Andrea (Harold) Cannon, grandchildren, Troy A. Cooksey, Talesa R. Utley, and Amari L. Cooksey, great granddaughters, Lakira and Takira Gooch, siblings, Velma Odem, Earl (Margie) Cooksey, Janet (Eddie) Kizer, John (Kris) Cooksey, and Loretta Bradford, sisters-in-law, Rosetta Barbour, Esta McClain, brothers-in-law, Dr. Ronald (Milca) Barbour, Eddie Ramey, Lloyd Green, devoted nieces, Perrion (Colette) Barbour, nephew Baron Ramey, family friend (Son), Lamont Bowers, and a host of loving nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Marshall was educated in Houston County Public Schools and later graduated from Burt School in Clarksville, Tennessee. He confessed his life to Christ at an early age and was a long-time member of First Baptist South Inglewood, where he served on the Trustee Board. In his early years he worked for Boatland and then onto Robert Orr Sysco. Where he retired. He served in the United States Army. He was a member of the Haynes Manor Neighborhood Association, a member of the American Legion Post 226, Erin, Tennessee. He played softball for many years and was an avid bowler.
