On December 23, 2025, Marta Mimmi D’Alessandro passed peacefully, surrounded by her loving children. She was the daughter of Bruno Mimmi and Natalia Mingazzini.

She is survived by her children, Frank B. D'Alessandro and his wife Michelle, Debora D'Alessandro and her husband Ed Medici, Natalie D'Alessandro Volpe and her husband John, and Jules J. D'Alessandro and his wife Luisa; a brother, Eros Mimmi, and eight grandchildren, Alexandra, Jonathan, Domenic, Justin, Giavanna, Jaeson, Antonio Jules and Ariana.

Born in Castel San Pietro, Italy, Marta carried her love of family, culture, and learning throughout her life. While living in Bologna, she met Frank D’Alessandro, an American medical student who became her husband, partner, and greatest love. Though leaving Italy was not easy, Marta embraced her life in America, where together they raised four children. She worked alongside Frank in building a successful medical practice and gave generously of her time to her children’s schools and to causes close to her heart.

Marta found her greatest joy in her family and grandchildren. Holidays were especially dear to her, filled with warmth, laughter, and treasured days making tortellini and lasagna verde—dishes that became expressions of her love and lasting family traditions. She and Frank shared a passion for travel journeying to Europe, the Middle East, and Australia and returning often to Italy to visit family and friends, skiing in the Dolomites and playing tennis.

Quiet and reserved, Marta was deeply compassionate, always offering thoughtful advice and a listening ear. She was devoted to the Rhode Island Philharmonic Orchestra and proudly served as President of the RIPO Friends Committee. A lifelong lover of history, she often shared vivid stories of her childhood during World War II.

Marta and Frank spent many happy years boating on Narragansett Bay aboard The Legend and later made their home on Goat Island in Newport, often accompanied by her beloved Scottish Terriers.

Her funeral service will be held Tuesday, January 6, 2026, at 9 AM, from the Maceroni Funeral Home, 1381 Smith St, North Providence, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM in St. Augustine Church, 639 Mt. Pleasant Ave, Providence. Visiting hours are Monday, 4-6 PM. Her burial will be private.

The family gratefully acknowledges the staff at Robert’s Health Center for their kindness and compassionate care. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
