Martha (Marty) Yoder Bowers
Martha (Marty) Yoder Bowers, 84, of Moneta, Virginia, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, January 2, 2025. Born February 22, 1940 in Moline, IL, she was preceded in death by her parents William McKinley Yoder and Beulah Dailey Yoder; husband, Albert Whitman Bowers; brother, Ronald Yoder; sister, Shirley Stockwell.
Marty was a member of Bethlehem United Methodist Church, where she was involved in many church functions, such as member of the board and hospitality team. She also volunteered in many organizations such as Garden Club (National, Regional, and Local), Smith Mountain Arts Council (SMAC), Newcomers Club, Friends of the Library, and many more.
She is survived by her sons, Christopher Bowers and wife Nicki, Mark Bowers and wife Sharon; brother, Dave Yoder and wife Maggie; sister-in-law, Mary Kay Yoder; numerous other family and friends.
Memorial Contributions may be made to Bethlehem United Methodist Church Memorial Fund, P.O. Box 458, Moneta, VA 24121; or one of the other organizations she was passionate about.
A celebration of Marty’s life will be conducted at 11AM on February 22, 2025 at Bethlehem United Methodist Church, Moneta, with Pastor Scott Davis officiating. To send condolences online please visit tharpfuneralhome.com. Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory, Bedford, is assisting the family.
